Student answer (Band 5.5)
Keeping animals in zoos are common at present in the developed countries which has been visiting by numerous visitors during their holidays. However, some think that they do not require this facility for longer it should be closed. In my view, I partially agree with this statement and explain my arguments in the following paragraphs.
To commence with, having zoos could help people to enjoy their free time and it contributes to nation's economic growth. To expound it, lots of commuters want to get experience to see distinct wild animals physically, especially those who are dangerous to seen openly. For example, people on their holidays spending quality time with their families to visiting zoos to make their dreams real while seeing wildlife there. Furthermore, travellers buying tickets for entering in such places also spending having foods and for shopping essentials can promote local businesses which leads to enhance the economic level of that country.
On the other hand, people who arguing it should be closed can creating obstacles for local community those are living nearby by forest areas. To explain it further, while endangered animals like lions, tigers and wolfs are live freely can create life threats for people surround them. It can be seen in many rural areas people are seeing lions and tigers entering in their houses which in later attracting on them and hurting them badly even somewhere people are dying where zoos are not available.
In conclusion, although zoos are the main source among people to relax themselves while spending time there seeing animals, but animals cannot survive independently they have lack of freedom in zoos rather than surviving in open air.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a partial stance, though the development of ideas is inconsistent. You provide relevant points regarding economic benefits and safety concerns, but the arguments are often under-developed or confusing. For instance, the argument about animals creating threats in rural areas is somewhat tangential to the core debate of whether zoos should be closed for ethical reasons. Furthermore, the conclusion contradicts your introduction by suggesting animals lack freedom, which undermines your initial 'partial agreement' position. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a clear, distinct reason that directly supports your thesis, and maintain a consistent argument throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To expound it' and 'To explain it further' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the third paragraph where the connection between closing zoos and the presence of wild animals in rural areas is not logically bridged. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'spending quality time' and 'making their dreams real'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'has been visiting by numerous visitors' (should be passive voice: 'is visited by') and 'attracting on them'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate. Avoid repetitive structures and try to incorporate more topic-specific terminology related to animal welfare and conservation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently make errors in subject-verb agreement, such as 'Keeping animals in zoos are common' and 'people who arguing'. Additionally, there are persistent issues with verb forms and tense usage, such as 'which has been visiting' and 'animals... are live freely'. These errors occur frequently and occasionally make the meaning difficult to grasp. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive and active voice, before attempting more complex structures.
