Student answer (Band 6.0)
Keeping animals in zoo is becoming a topic of serious discussion. I will try to explain both point of view before stating why I disagree with this statement
Keeping animals at zoo means taking away the right of freedom from those who does not speak. They usually have the habit of roaming around freely as per their own choice. Wild animal usually hunts for their own meals, keeping them in confined space or an artificial space can cause them stress and create un-natural behaviour in them, which would be difficult for zoo keepers to keep them under control. There are many instance were wild animals like lion, tigers or aquatic animal like whale or orcs going out of control and started killing their care takers.
But on the other side keeping animals at zoo has significant aspect also. One of the main reason keeping animals at zoo is for breeding process, this can help animal going out of extinction. Zoo also act as protection center for some exotic animals to keep them protected from hunters, poachers and habitat loss. They also help in educational purpose specifically to young children who all are in learning stage. They also provide a way of caring to the animals and the environment they live in. For instance , many zoo provide protection to pandas to help them breed and recover from extinction.
In conclusion, zoo not only act as a way of taking away freedom from the animals but also provide a safe haven for them to survive and also helping young children to learn from them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument. However, the position is somewhat contradictory. While you state in the introduction that you disagree with the statement (implying zoos should remain open), the conclusion is ambiguous, merely summarizing both sides without clearly reiterating your stance. The ideas are relevant, such as animal welfare and conservation, but they are somewhat under-developed. For example, the point about 'educational purposes' is mentioned but not explained in detail. To reach a higher band, ensure your position is consistent throughout the essay and that each supporting point is fully expanded with clear reasoning or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'But on the other side' and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in the argument. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For instance, the transition between the discussion of animal stress and the mention of specific incidents is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'confined space', 'artificial space', 'extinction', and 'poachers'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'significant aspect also' and 'way of caring to the animals'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word forms, such as 'educational purpose' instead of 'educational purposes'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word choices are consistently natural and accurate in the context of the argument.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('those who does not speak' should be 'those who do not speak'), article usage ('at zoo' should be 'at the zoo'), and pluralization errors ('many instance' should be 'many instances'). While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, which are essential for higher band scores.
