Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, most of the people thought whether zoos are still necessary or it should be closed because there is no need to keep animals in zoos. I disagree with this statement as zoos are important to protect endangered species and teach people about wildlife.
On the one hand, zoos helps to protect endangered animals. In this world, some animals are rare due to hunting and loss of their homes like lions, bears and so on. zoos are the place where animals are safe and living in good environment. for example, zoos are help to increase the number of endangered species and they and people are not hunting that animals in the zoos. They eat their food proper time to time and enjoy their surroundings with other animals. as a result, zoos are help to protect animals from extinct.
Moreover, Zoos help to tech not only people but also children about animals creature as well as nature. Most of the time people watch animals closely, they can touch them and learn more about animals. For instance, majority of time children can touch and feed the animals by their own hands. Children can learn more by enjoying animals in the zoos and wildlife. As a consequence, everyone are more curious and interested to safe wildlife.
In conclusion, zoos are help animals to safe and provide good environment. They proper feed and caretakers care all animals in a proper way. During any emergency, like sickness or disease they provide medication to animals who need this.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. You provide two main arguments: conservation of endangered species and educational value. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the point about animals being 'safe' is mentioned in both the second and fourth paragraphs without adding new insights. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same general ideas. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively summarize the main points or provide a final thought, which limits the overall development of your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, in the second paragraph, the transition 'as a result, zoos are help to protect animals from extinct' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their intended nouns would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'endangered species,' 'wildlife,' and 'medication.' However, the range is limited, and there are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'protect animals from extinct' (should be 'extinction') and 'enjoying animals' (should be 'observing' or 'viewing'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repeating basic verbs like 'help' and 'learn' throughout the text. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic synonyms will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('zoos helps,' 'everyone are'), incorrect verb forms ('zoos are help to increase'), and article usage ('in good environment'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading your work to correct subject-verb agreement and ensure that your verb tenses are consistent throughout the essay. Practicing complex sentence structures will also help improve your range.
