Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think that zoos are not as important as they are, and should be closed as soon as possible. However, I am partially disagree with them, and this essay will discuss my viewpoints on this belief.
To start with, zoos are a main reason for saving endangered species of animals of the environment. A lot of animal species are not alive in the world just because authorities were not able to save them. This happens just because the government was not successful to prevent them from dangers like environmental pollution and hunting. For instance, there was one of deer species in the forest of Karnataka in India and people used to do hunting in that area and that special deers were killed due to hunting in that place. This is the reason why zoos are important and should not be closed.
However, Some people give advice to close the zoos and not to keep the animals in them. They are right to some extent, because maintaining these zoos is too expensive and takes a lot of effort and money. Moreover, there are lot of animals in zoos worldwide and also those who are safe outside the zoos, but authorities using them as a source of money and taking a lot of money from people to visit zoos and this thing is widely popular. So, some zoos shoiuld be closed and the government should introduce some regulation to free all the animals to stay in forest life.
In conclusion, zoos are really important to save species of animals who are in danger, but people who use them as a business should be stopped by authorities for animals to live a happy life in natural forests.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by taking a clear, albeit nuanced, position ('I am partially disagree with them'). The response discusses both the protective role of zoos for endangered species and the valid criticisms regarding commercialisation and animal welfare. Ideas are generally relevant, but the support tends to rely on overly brief or anecdotal descriptions, such as the example of deer hunting in Karnataka, rather than fully extended arguments. Consequently, the development is somewhat limited in depth. However, the overall task is adequately addressed, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors where all parts are covered, though some areas are more fully explored than others.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall structure with a clear division into introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'To start with', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen with phrases like 'and this thing is widely popular' or repetitive sentence openings. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct ideas, such as the benefits versus the drawbacks of zoos, but the logical progression within paragraphs occasionally feels disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'endangered species', 'environmental pollution', and 'commercialisation' (though using simpler equivalents like 'source of money'). There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'I am partially disagree with them' (grammatical-lexical mix-up) and 'forest life' instead of 'natural habitats'. Less common items are attempted with some inaccuracy, but the chosen vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main arguments without impeding overall communication, which places the response firmly in Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over multi-clause structures ('This happens just because the government was not successful to prevent them...'). However, frequent errors in grammar and punctuation occur, including incorrect verb forms ('I am partially disagree'), missing articles ('there was one of deer species'), and pluralisation issues ('there are lot of animals'). While these errors are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally re-read, they rarely completely impede communication, satisfying the requirements for Band 5.5 to 6.0. A score of 6.0 reflects the mix of successful complex sentences alongside persistent grammatical slips.
