Student answer (Band 5.0)

As urbanization is going on where many people argues not to keep animals into zoos and keep them closed. I absolutly disagree with those people who not believe keeping zoos alive.

The primary reason for which I oppose keeping zoos dead is the envirment which are required to keep rare animal spicies alive. Many rare animals which are about to be vanish, some care and proper environment, they could have been saved. For example: zoo named Vantara, which not only heritages over 1000 rare animals including animals from North America, to many birds from South Japan are being preserved in zoo. Another reason is by keeping those zoos, it could be also used as foreign income revenue. As Vantara alone is able to attract almost 3 billion visitors from foreign, it boosts country's GDP also.

The secodary reason for which I am opposite to those people who are not interested keeping zoo alive, they believe that as population is increasing rapidly, land of zoo can be used to build many appartments. They believe that as the cost of accommodation is rising, constructing houses and apprtments in zoo area could be beneficial for humanity. And as for animals, they would be vanished as climate changes. I beileve that, as a fellow human, we should also care about other spicies, so by removing zoos, not only we eliminates versetalities of earth but also we are disturbing natural food-supply chain, disturbing other animals also. For example: If we eliminate rats from zoos, entire zoo land would be dry making harder for snakes to survive in that area.

In conclution, I believe that zoos are important part of narure which could be the only source to keeping rare animals to alive as well as becoming an important source for foreign income also. And those who believe replace zoos with house, they are ignoring downfalling amount to severe spicies that can be helpful to humakind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against closing zoos. The writer attempts to support this stance with reasons such as animal conservation and foreign tourism revenue. However, the development of ideas is limited by frequent generalisations and awkward supporting evidence, such as the claim that a single zoo attracts 3 billion visitors. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the arguments lack depth and precision. The position is maintained throughout the essay, but the overall task fulfilment suffers from unsupported claims and underdeveloped reasoning, placing it securely at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the overall progression is hampered by awkward transitions and mechanical cohesive devices like 'The primary reason for which I oppose' and 'The secodary reason'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, such as moving from tourism revenue directly into housing construction arguments in the following paragraph. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as pronoun confusion regarding what is being eliminated. These organizational weaknesses mean the response aligns best with Band 5.0 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'spicies' instead of species, 'absolutly', 'envirment', 'apprtments', and 'narure'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'urbanization' and 'versetalities', these are often used incorrectly or imprecisely. Noticeable errors in collocation and form cause some difficulty for the reader and impede smooth reading. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5.0 criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many people argues', 'spicies are being preserved'), incorrect prepositional use ('keep animals into zoos'), and awkward sentence construction ('those who believe replace zoos with house'). Punctuation and article usage are also problematic throughout the text. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader, which reflects the Band 5.0 descriptors for grammatical accuracy and range.
