Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is a debatable question that animals are kept in zoos for their right of freedom and harassing problem, while some people, including myself, believe that man made cages are mandatary to provide proper support and education to young people. This essay will elucidate the agreement in extensive details over subsequent paragraphs.

To begin with, Keeping animals into the zoos, could help to save endangered species. In the zoos, rare animals can get proper treatment. Moreover, zoos are the best source to spread sentiment and educate children about life style of animals. By visiting zoos, which not only help them to get entertain but also get more information about their living behaviour. For example, In Mexico, ciitizens visit zoos, along with their todlers, on weekend to make their offspring educated for future.

Nonetheless, some people also believe that animals has right to live same as humans have. So keeping them in zoos would narrowing down their freedom. Further, sometimes animals are negatively affected by the action of visitors. Visiting children sometimes throw stones or making a loud noise, which can disturb their routine. For instance, In 2015, around 40% of zoos got dminished in Bangladesh, as more people were harrasing animals in zoos for their fun. Hence, providing artificial home to them would be a great choice for animals.

To recapitulate, some people argued that zoos are not best places to live them freely, while others and I, think that for spreading awareness and to save endangered speaces, zoos are the perfect place.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position and supporting it with arguments regarding endangered species, education, and animal welfare. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are a bit repetitive or under-developed, such as the example regarding zoos in Mexico which lacks specific impact details, and the claim about 40% of zoos diminishing in Bangladesh which appears factually unsupported or vague. Despite these minor underdeveloped details, the response covers all parts of the prompt well enough to satisfy the Band 6 descriptors where a clear stance is presented with relevant ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing preservation and ethical concerns, and finally concluding. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Nonetheless', and 'To recapitulate', although some referencing is slightly clunky or mechanical (e.g., 'live them freely'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main ideas. While the flow is logical, certain transitions feel abrupt, placing it firmly at the Band 6 level where information and ideas are coherently arranged overall despite some faulty or mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'endangered species', 'elucidate', and 'artificial home'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'mandatary' instead of mandatory, 'ciitizens', 'todlers', 'entertain' instead of entertainment, 'dminished' instead of diminished, 'speaces', and 'harrasing'. These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not severely impede overall communication, which aligns well with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptor range. The lexical control is somewhat limited by these spelling slips.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'By visiting zoos, which not only help them to get entertain but also get more information...' and 'While some people, including myself, believe that man made cages are mandatary...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('animals has right', 'some people argued'), missing articles, and awkward prepositional usage ('Keeping animals into the zoos'). Complex structures often contain faults. While communication is not totally obscured, the frequency of errors places this grammar performance at Band 5.0.
