Student answer (Band 6.0)
People believe that zoos should be closed because there is no longer need to kept animals in zoos. I totally disagree with the statement because zoo helps in protecting endangered species of animals and birds, creating job opportunities and knowledgeable.
One of the most significant reason why zoos should not be closed is protecting endangered species. Many species of animals are rarely found in the outer world, but they kept in the zoos not only provide them shelter but also give food to eat. Moreover, many animals treat zoo as there house so if these endangered species left in the outer world, then there is the probability that they might extinct.
Another reason why zoos are important is that it create job opportunities. Many people who are working in zoos from years become unemployed if zoos are closed. It would be arduous for them to find another job because they do not know what else to do except taking care of the animals. Therefore, to support the economy it is crucial to keep zoos open.
In addition, zoos also provide significant information about various species. People visit zoos to have a close look of the animals. They can gain more knowledge while watching them instead of reading from books. They can see how beautiful they are in real life like peacock, giraffe and many more.Schools also organised trip to the nearby zoos so that they can show animals to the students because they things people see have more impact on their memory.
In conclusion, zoos plays a paramount role in protecting animals and also help in supporting th economy as a whole by creating jobs and giving knowledge to the visitors of zoos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against closing zoos and supporting this with several relevant reasons, such as species protection, job creation, and educational value. The writer covers all parts of the task appropriately, satisfying the requirements of a General Training Task 2 response. However, some ideas lack full extension and suffer from minor generalisations. For instance, the point regarding job creation is introduced but relies on repetitive reasoning rather than deep exploration. The conclusion appropriately restates the main position. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.0, as it addresses all parts of the task and presents relevant, supported ideas, though some parts remain somewhat under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraphing structure, where each body paragraph focuses on a distinct main idea (protection, jobs, education). The writer employs basic cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions between ideas. However, referencing is sometimes imprecise, as seen with 'they things people see' and general pronouns that occasionally obscure the exact intended referent. Cohesion is at times a bit mechanical, fitting the profile of Band 6.0, where information and ideas are logically organised, but cohesive devices may be slightly repetitive or faulty.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'endangered species', 'arduous', and 'paramount'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including phrases like 'no longer need to kept', 'might extinct' instead of 'might go extinct', and 'knowledgeable' used as a noun in the introduction. Spelling and morphological slips also occur, such as 'reason' instead of 'reasons' and 'th economy'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, which aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors for Lexical Resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as relative clauses ('People who are working in zoos from years') and conditional-like structures ('if these endangered species left...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly involving verb forms, auxiliary omissions ('zoo helps', 'they kept', 'it create'), and preposition usage ('working in zoos from years'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but grammatical inaccuracies persist and occasionally require the reader to re-read. This performance reflects the characteristics of Band 5.5, where a limited range of structures is used and frequent errors in complex forms are apparent.
