Student answer (Band 5.0)

Protecting animals in zoos has become the debateable issue. Most of the individuals contend that zoos should be closed because they are not keeping animals at all. However, I disagree with this given statment to some extend.

To begin with, a large polulation of wild animals could be observed by people on roads , while using public and private transporation. As a results , sometimes these animals can become the reason of accidents.Furthermore, if the government would be closed the zoos without the safety purpose of people then people will not be feel safe in their places. For example, we have observed a myriad of kids have lost their lives due to the wild animals, which we have seen a many times on roads.

Moreover, Zoos are essential and protectice for endangerous species those can not be safe for the whole community. Apart from that, It is responsibility of the regime,s that open numerous zoos to keep animals from big to small in zoos including, lions, cats, dogs, many more. By keeping them in the zoos chances of mishappening will be reduced and the animals those are died on roads due to some reason will be feel safer. For example, a lion is very harmful animal among others so it require a lot of preservation as compared to other small animals.

In conclusion, having discussed above arguments, I conclude that government and individuals should take responsibilty to protect them by buidling many zoos in every cities. So every person can enjoy their freedom without any risk.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response presents a clear position regarding whether zoos should be closed, arguing that they remain necessary for animal preservation and public safety. The writer attempts to cover all parts of the task by discussing both the risks of wild animals roaming freely and the protective role of zoos. However, some ideas are underdeveloped or confused. For instance, the claim that wild animals are commonly observed on roads causing accidents is an over-generalization and lacks strong logical connection to the core debate about zoos. Additionally, the argument includes slightly unusual assertions, such as keeping cats and dogs in zoos alongside lions. Despite these shortcomings, a distinct stance is maintained throughout the essay. This performance aligns best with Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at structural organisation. However, progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and abrupt transitions. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from that', and 'In conclusion', but the referencing between sentences is often unclear, leaving the reader confused about pronoun reference (e.g., 'protect them' or 'enjoy their freedom'). Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth flow. Ideas are somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the danger of animals on roads. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 level for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical range is limited and frequently hindered by word choice errors and non-standard collocations. Examples include 'debateable issue', 'polulation', 'transporation', 'endangerous species', and 'mishappening'. The writer attempts less common vocabulary, but inaccurate formations ('regime,s') and misuse of terms ('endangerous' instead of 'endangered') impede smooth reading. While the intended meaning can generally be deciphered, the density of lexical errors places this text firmly in the Band 5.0 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatically, the response shows a very limited range of structures, with frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader. There are persistent issues with article usage, verb tenses, and modal verb structures, such as 'if the government would be closed the zoos' and 'a lion is very harmful animal among others so it require'. Punctuation is also problematic, with misplaced commas and spacing errors throughout the text. Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty. Because errors are frequent and occasionally obscure meaning, this performance warrants a Band 4.5, which rounds to 5.0 based on the official half-band scale descriptors.
