Student answer (Band 6.0)

From now on , it is not necessary to keep animals in zoos and these places should be shut down. However, I disagree with this statement due to the benefits zoos provide to animals, society and government.

The major advantage of keeping animals

in zoos is that these artificial places provide appropriate environment. Due to environmental changes, it becomes a challenge for many species to survive, but zoos cater suitable atmosphere according to the raquirements of specific animal. For instance, zee keeprs are available all the time and distribute essential food, medication or maintain temperature as per needed.

Zoos help to spread awareness related to wildlife. Either they organise an event or public visit there, by both ways people get to know about species that are endangered and rare. This Information helps people to take necessary actions to protect them. As a result, it can be helpful for people to address the problems

associated with animals and they can provide support by raising money or involving in volunteer work in zoos.

Last but not least, zoos generate some income for government. Many visitors have curosity towards wildlife; particularly children who want to see and observe animals from closely.

This is the main cause why many schools organise trips to zoos, and to explore these visitors have to pay some entry fee which contributes in economy.

To conclude, in future, environmental changes and deforestation will rise the demand of zoos for animals, because adaptation of changes will be more difficult for them. Therefore, I think zoos should keep on going to provide home to endangered species

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear stance against closing zoos. The writer outlines several supporting reasons, such as providing appropriate environments, spreading wildlife awareness, and generating government income. These ideas are generally relevant and extended, meeting the requirements for Band 6.0. However, some arguments lack deeper development. For example, the point regarding income generation touches on school trips and entry fees, but it could be expanded with a more thorough explanation of how this funding directly aids conservation efforts. Despite minor under-development in certain areas, all parts of the prompt are addressed, and a clear position is maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, moving smoothly from introduction to body paragraphs discussing animal welfare, education, and economic benefits, concluding with a summary stance. Paragraphing is used appropriately. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or features awkward transitions, such as 'Last but not least,' which feels a bit rigid. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional minor slip-ups in logical flow prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Overall, the structural framework is solid and easy for the reader to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their points regarding wildlife, conservation, and education. The student attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'endangered,' 'appropriate environment,' and 'curosity,' though there are noticeable spelling errors ('curosity,' 'raquirements,' 'zee keeprs') and occasional awkward collocations ('distribute essential food,' 'explore these visitors'). These lexical slips do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the score to a Band 6.0 because the precision and natural control expected at Band 7.0 are not consistently maintained.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional and concessive clauses (e.g., 'Due to environmental changes, it becomes a challenge...'). There are several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the text, including missing articles ('provide appropriate environment'), subject-verb agreement issues ('zoos keeprs are available... rise the demand'), and awkward prepositions ('from closely'). Fortunately, these errors are isolated enough that they rarely impede communication. The control over grammar represents a typical Band 6.0 profile, where complex structures are attempted but are accompanied by persistent mechanical mistakes.
