Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people believe that keeping animals in captivity is unnecessary today and all that zoos should be permanently closed down. However, I completely disagree on the statement about no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, because zoos play a crucial role to protect species and educating people. In today's modern worlds wild animals and species are getting hidden, beacuse there is not enough space is available for them to live their healthy life in the forests. Humans are cutting trees for better infrastructure and making their homes in the forests and animals are facing issues because of the deforestation and by many factors. Pollution is also a big challenge for the animals to survive and enjoy their lives. Zoos are playing a crucial role in the today's economy it creates opportunities to the goverment to protect the animals and protect their spieces to get hidden. And, Zoos are making good money to the Zoo owners and it represents our culture norms and it help in supporting education such as if students wants to do reasearch they don't have to go in the forests they can visits Zoos and do study on the animals there. There are some disadvantages of Zoo are that they keep the freedom of the animals they can not live their lives in their way. So in my perspective, Zoos should not be closed but maintain with the proper resources for the animals and their rights and freedom also take in mind. To conclude, I firmly believe that zoos should reamain open rather than being shut down and focus more on animal welfares and rights.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response clearly addresses both parts of the task by taking a firm position ('I completely disagree') and supporting it with reasons such as species protection, educational value, and habitat loss. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive or under-developed, such as the mention of zoo owners making money or cultural norms, which prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The arguments are generally relevant and adequate for a general task, but benefit from more precise extension. Overall, the writer successfully addresses the prompt and maintains a clear viewpoint throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with clear links established between ideas, utilizing introductory phrasing and transition markers like 'However', 'And', and 'To conclude'. However, paragraphing is somewhat inadequate, as the entire body of the essay is collapsed into a single massive paragraph instead of being broken down into logical sub-points. Additionally, cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or faulty, such as 'And, Zoos are making good money', which disrupts the natural flow of progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'deforestation', 'infrastructure', and 'captivity'. However, there are notable word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'species are getting hidden' instead of 'becoming extinct', 'modern worlds', and 'maintain with the proper resources'. Spelling and morphological inaccuracies, such as 'beacuse', 'goverment', 'spieces', 'reasearch', and 'reamain', slightly detract from the overall lexical quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. However, grammatical errors are frequent and occasionally impede readability, particularly run-on sentences and punctuation issues. Examples include 'Many people believe that keeping animals in captivity is unnecessary today and all that zoos should be permanently closed down' and 'if students wants to do reasearch they don't have to go in the forests they can visits Zoos and do study on the animals there.' Subject-verb agreement errors ('students wants', 'zoos should reamain') and missing prepositions also lower the accuracy score.
