Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that, animals should live in their natural habitat and not is man made biological parks. I strongly agree with the statement primarily because animals deserve to be free and not ment to be cages for display to humans, furthermore, their are modern alternaties to learn about animals.
To begin with, freedom is the key to happiness for everyone and animals also euqally deserve the same. Keeping them in a closed space restrict their movement and will alter their natural behaviour, animals deserve to live openly in larger space. This results in quality of life they live throughuout their lifetime. For instance, once a cub of a tiger is born in zoo, he will never be experiencing the life of a jungle, never learn hunting and will loose its natural habitat.
Furthermore, the main objective of these park was to educate people about animals, now we are living in a digital era, where people can use modern alternatives like documentries, visit to wildlife santuries to learn about the animals in much more eleborative way. This will not only help animals live in natural space but people will develop right way of learning about them. For example; Geography channel plays many shows online talking about various animal capturing them in wildlife, the viewers not only sees them but learn about how they live, hunt, breed and more. Hence giving much more information then a zoo can provide.
To conclude, animals should be allowed to live in their natural space and modern alternatives should be used for education purposes. I strongly support closing down of all the zoos for giving animal a better life to live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt directly, presenting a clear and well-developed position throughout in agreement with closing zoos. The writer supports this stance with relevant reasons, such as the intrinsic value of animal freedom and the availability of modern digital alternatives like documentaries and wildlife sanctuaries. Ideas are extended with examples, such as tigers born in captivity lacking hunting skills and the role of the Geography channel. Although some ideas could benefit from even greater depth and elaboration, the response successfully covers all parts of the task and maintains a consistent, clear viewpoint from the introduction to the conclusion. This aligns well with the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0; looking closely at the descriptors, the writer clearly addresses all parts with a clear position, warranting a solid Band 6.5 overall for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a recognizable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, displaying a clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts in thought, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in minor awkward transitions and punctuation issues around conjunctions. Paragraphing is utilized sufficiently and appropriately to separate main ideas, but the logical flow between sentences occasionally stumbles due to grammatical inaccuracies. Overall, the structural framework is coherent, making the essay's progression easy to follow, which fits the Band 6 descriptor nicely.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'natural habitat', 'biological parks', 'alternatives', and 'documentries'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'ment' instead of meant, 'cages' instead of caged, 'alternaties' instead of alternatives, 'euqally' instead of equally, 'throughuout' instead of throughout, 'eleborative' instead of elaborate, and 'santuries' instead of sanctuaries. While these errors do not impede overall communication and the writer's intent remains clear, the frequency of lexical slips prevents the score from reaching a higher band. Therefore, a Band 6.0 is appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several recurring errors, such as punctuation issues ('It is often argued that, animals...'), missing auxiliary verbs or incorrect verb forms ('animals deserve to be free and not ment to be cages'), subject-verb agreement issues ('their are modern alternaties'), and tense inconsistencies ('once a cub of a tiger is born in zoo, he will never be experiencing...'). Although these errors occur frequently, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the core message. This profile corresponds well with the Band 6 descriptor.
