Student answer (Band 5.5)
The animals should not need to be kept in zoos and zoos should be closed.
To some extent i agree with this statement because animals have proper rights to live in there natural habitat and do whatever they want without any boundries. But the animals like Lions and bears will be only seen by humans in the zoos because they are very dangerous animals and in zoos they are kept under protection so they must not harm the humans.
To begin with, animals in zoos did not get proper habitat which is the main and the biggest concern. According to some reseraches animals in zoos are medicined so they get lazy and less active. Although, in many zoos they are not kept with proper care and sometimes they often did not provide with enough diet. In the zoos animals are just show as show piece and people who visit them often irritate them in there sleeping time. Mainly in zoos animals are not able to survive as much as they survive in there natural habitat.
However, some people believes that zoos are the best place to kept animals and they should not be closed. As in zoos animals get proper madication if they are ill . In the zoos the spicies of the animals which are near to extinction can be saved by proper care and breeding. In zoos we also get to know so much about the information of animals and it helps alot to the researchers. Zoos also attract visttors from different states and country and be a source of joy.
In conclusion, if the zoos are kept with proper care nad animals just be taken in zoos for some time and then they must be given the freedom to live in there natural habitat and also management of the zoos should be enhanced in order to keepp them alive.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether zoos should be closed. The introduction outlines a nuanced view, acknowledging both animal rights and security concerns. Body paragraph one discusses the negative impacts of zoos, such as improper habitats and restricted freedom, while body paragraph two presents counter-arguments regarding conservation, medical care, and research benefits. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or general, such as the claim that animals are medicined to become lazy, which lacks specific support. Despite minor leaps in logic, a clear stance is maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs presenting opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to link ideas, such as "To begin with," "However," and "In conclusion." However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and cohesive devices can feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For example, the transition between ideas within the second body paragraph could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments, overall resulting in a coherent arrangement that meets the criteria for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as "extinction," "natural habitat," and "researchers." However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including "boundries" instead of boundaries, "reseraches" instead of researches, "madication" instead of medication, "spicies" instead of species, "visttors" instead of visitors, and "keepp" instead of keep. Furthermore, awkward phrasing like "medicined so they get lazy" and "show piece" impacts precision. These inaccuracies do not impede overall communication, placing the response firmly at Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conjunctions and subordinate clauses (e.g., "Although, in many zoos they are not kept with proper care and sometimes they often did not provide with enough diet"). However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including tense inconsistencies, missing prepositions, and article misuse (e.g., "in there natural habitat" instead of in their natural habitat, "animals in zoos did not get" instead of do not get, and "animals just be taken"). While these errors do not completely obscure meaning, they occur regularly and restrict the score to a Band 5.5.
