Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is commonly argued by many individuals that we no longer want to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed. This statement have some benefits but still I am not fully agree with this staement due to numerous reasons which I am going to discuss in the upcoming paragraphs.
On the one side, there are strong argumets that we no longer need to have animals kept in zoos and zoos should be closed. The predominant benefit is freedom to zoo animal. Freedom is very crucial part of every living thing. If all zoos closed then animal or bird can go anywhere they want to go, owing to that they can make their life better by getting more nutrients and vitamins that they need.
On the other side, I cannot denied that zoos should not be closed because of various reasons. The first and foremost reason is lack of knowledge about different speices. There are numerous speices of birds and animals in the world. If there would be no zoo then people would have less knowledge about them. Moreover, the future generation such as kids will not be able to understand enough about animals because mostly parents take their children to zoos to aware them about different kind of birds and animals.
To conclude, even though we no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed but still I firmly believe that there are benefits of not cloosing the zoos as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether zoos should be closed, and the writer takes a clear position disagreeing with their closure. However, the ideas are limited and somewhat under-developed, falling short of full exploration. For instance, the argument regarding the lack of knowledge about different species is mentioned, but it lacks specific examples or robust elaboration to fully support the stance. Additionally, it is important to note a critical constraint issue: the response contains 249 words, which fails to meet the minimum requirement of 250 words. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to extend their arguments with more detailed supporting examples and ensure the word count requirement is fully satisfied.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides, and a conclusion. The writer successfully uses basic cohesive devices and standard structural signposts such as "On the one side" and "To conclude" to organize the text. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To move further up the band scale, the writer needs to manage referencing more precisely and employ a wider, more flexible range of cohesive devices without relying on repetitive transitional phrases, ensuring a smoother progression of ideas throughout the entire essay.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their basic arguments about animals and zoos. However, the range is limited and contains noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as "speices" instead of species, "argumets" instead of arguments, and the unnatural collocation "freedom to zoo animal" rather than freedom for zoo animals. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, but these inaccuracies occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their lexical repertoire, use words with greater precision, and eliminate spelling and word-form errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay displays a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures and subordinate clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors like "This statement have some benefits", article and pluralisation errors like "animal or bird can go anywhere", and instances of awkward phrasing and verb usage such as "I cannot denied". To reach the next level, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, ensure correct verb forms and subject-verb agreement, and reduce the frequency of grammatical slips.
