Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this era people belive that animals should not be kept in zoos , so we dont need zoos anymore.

According to my point of view, we still need some of the zoos to aware people about animals.

First and foremost , Zoos are made to educate the folks about animals. To explicate , parents always took their childern to zoos to show them a different kind of animals which would help them to learn eaisly about all animlas in one place .

To illustarte , In recent time univeristy of virigina run a survey on class 6 student that those student who saw animal by naked animals got more marks in class than others who dont visit zoo. At the end , zoos play vital role in society.

Moreover , now a days people belive in free world they said that everybody has right to live free life . To explain , most of the Animals are made to live in forest because they dont like to live in small area and they prefer to eat by killing other animals not by feeding by humans . For example , Artice was written in india times that more than 50 percent animals prefer to live in forest and eat their own hunted food . As a result,

we dont need so many zoos .

In conclusion , animals has right to live in forest but we need few zoos for awareness purpose.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially and falls short of the minimum word count requirement, containing only 242 words instead of the required 250. The writer presents a clear position that some zoos are still needed for educational purposes, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the argument regarding education is supported by a vague and generalised claim about a university survey, while the counter-argument concerning animal rights is simplistic and lacks depth. To reach a higher band, the writer needs to ensure the word count requirement is met and fully develop each main point with detailed explanations and relevant examples rather than relying on brief assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation evident through the use of basic sequencing markers such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', but the essay lacks a clear overall progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is often faulty and mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the transition between ideas within paragraphs where sentences do not always flow smoothly into one another. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more accurately and ensure that each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one with clear, seamless transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey basic points about zoos and animal rights. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form, such as 'belive', 'childern', 'eaisly', and 'Artice', which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying heavily on repetitive terms without demonstrating an ability to use less common lexical items effectively. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, improve accuracy in spelling and word choice, and incorporate more precise, topic-specific terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences alongside frequent faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect pluralisation, and awkward prepositions within grammatical patterns, such as 'those student who saw animal by naked animals' and 'animals has right'. Punctuation errors are also present. These frequent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to practice constructing complex sentences accurately and focus on eliminating basic grammatical and punctuation mistakes.
