Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is widely argued that keeping wild animals in captivity is no longer necessary and, therefore, zoological parks should be shut down. I condemn with this view because well-managed zoos can contribute significantly to wildlife conservation and public education.

I don't agree on that. Because it would destroy precious species of animals. People really go to zoo to enjoy with family that would destroy their enjoyment. Zoo should open So, animal would live comfortably. Animal really want to spend their time while sit in habitat place without worry of anything. So, the zoo kept them animal properly and feed them good So, their health does not go down. Animal really want to see beautiful nature which prepares only for them So, they can enjoy that and not get in the state of depression. Animal wants to treat them exactly like human with proper care that would only happen in zoo. Zoo would never be close because it would disturb their life.

I agree on that zoo would close that would open for collecting animal and sell that on the black market for business. zoo would close immediately and government should take action on that So, people don't try that and would not harm the animals and destroying the image of zoos.

For example, zoo is open for people entertainment then its good but if that open for selling the animals and hurting them that should defiantly close immediately. Zoo only open for to animal So, they can live peacefully there.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response responds to the task only minimally. While the writer attempts to take a position against closing zoos in the introduction, the development of ideas is severely limited and contradictory. Throughout the body paragraphs, the writer shifts stances, confusingly arguing both that zoos should stay open to protect animals and, conversely, claiming that zoos should close because of black-market animal sales, before concluding somewhat ambiguously. Ideas are heavily repetitive and lack adequate extension or supporting evidence. Key assertions, such as animals wanting to 'treat them exactly like human', are unclear and unsupported, preventing the response from achieving a higher level of task fulfillment.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The information and ideas are not arranged in a truly coherent manner. Although basic cohesive devices such as 'So' and 'For example' are used, they are frequently misused or overused, creating a mechanical and repetitive flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logic within paragraphs breaks down due to contradictory statements and abrupt shifts in focus. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow, as sentences frequently jump between animal welfare, human entertainment, and illegal trafficking without clear transitional links. Consequently, the overall structure lacks logical organisation and clear progression throughout the text.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range that struggles to express precise meaning. Words and phrases such as 'enjoy with family', 'habitat place', and 'go down' reflect basic lexical choices rather than flexible control. There are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'feed them good' instead of 'feed them well', and contradictory expressions like 'zoo would never be close' followed by 'zoo would close that would open for collecting animal'. These vocabulary limits and errors occasionally strain the reader's comprehension, placing the lexical range at a minimally adequate level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic, repetitive sentence patterns. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and word forms. Issues include incorrect verb tenses and forms, such as 'Animal wants to treat them exactly like human', missing articles, and faulty prepositions. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also problematic, with run-on sentences and fragmented thoughts creating difficulty for the reader. While simple sentences occasionally communicate basic points, the high frequency of grammatical errors restricts the text to a foundational level of accuracy.
