Student answer (Band 5.5)
Animal habitat is becoming serious concern worldwide. Some people argue that we do not need to keep animals in zoos and it should be closed permanently. This can not be possible as animals needs to have place to live and zoos can not be closed as It will be difficult to keep animals in open space or conservation areas.
To begin with, some animals can be harmful for society and it creates threat in public. To explain it, If animals kept in zoos, it will never hurt or attack on public; whereas keeping animals outside such as forest or conservation area they might kill the other animals as well as humans. For example, wild animals such as tigers, lions, beers, etc. can be dangerous for other small animals as they might kill them to fill their hunger if they do not keep in zoos. Some animals not only live their but also beneficial as zoo provides lot of facilities. As a result, It is a good way to keep animals in the zoo as they cannot affects others life.
Another main reason behind this is care which provided by zoo team to animals. In many zoos to keep an eye on animals for their well-being and to understand their basic needs they have special team who takes care of animals. This team supports animals health by having veterinary who decide their needs such as food, atmosphere and manage thier daily schedule, which can not pe possible if animals are keeping in a forest or other open areas. One great example is that penguins who needs special cool atmosphere, though zoos provide them cool temperature to survive their life which is not possible in some areas. Therefore, keeping animals in zoos support their health, daily lifstyle and medical team for thier health, yet zoos cannot closed as it fullfill their basic needs.
In conclusion, some people think that animals should not keep in zoos and zoos should be closed forever. This can not be possible as zoos provide great facilities for animals, also it will be harmful for other animals as some wild animals can kill them. Although keeping animals in forest or other areas cannot support their basic needs, zoos can provide all facilities. So, I disagree with zoos should be closed as zoos are beneficial for both animals and humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give two relevant reasons—public safety and the care zoos can provide. The examples of large predators and penguins help make the argument concrete, and the conclusion returns to your view. This meets the task well, with some elements already showing stronger development, particularly the explanation of veterinary care and temperature control. However, the safety argument is less convincing as developed: the claim that animals in zoos will “never hurt or attack” people is too absolute, and the discussion of animals killing one another outside zoos needs clearer support. To strengthen the response further, qualify broad claims and explain how well-managed zoos or conservation programmes address the specific problems you identify.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Paragraphs generally stay focused, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Another main reason,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some linking is mechanical, however, and connections between claims are not always clear. For example, “As a result” introduces a conclusion about zoos without fully showing how the preceding example proves it; similarly, “Although keeping animals in forest…” in the conclusion does not form a clear contrast with the following clause. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each example and its claim explicit. Clearer referencing would also help readers follow which animals or facilities each sentence refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “conservation areas,” “veterinary,” “well-being,” and “basic needs.” These choices show an attempt to discuss animal care beyond very general terms. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make parts of the argument less natural or occasionally harder to understand. Examples include “fill their hunger,” “special cool atmosphere,” and “daily lifstyle”; “beers” also appears where the context suggests “bears.” Repetition of “animals,” “zoos,” and “facilities” further limits flexibility. Build a bank of accurate phrases for animal welfare and conservation, and check spelling and collocations so that more ambitious vocabulary remains precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “whereas,” “which,” and “although,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is inconsistent: errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout and sometimes make the reader pause. For instance, “animals needs to have place” has agreement and article problems, while “zoos cannot closed” is missing a verb form. In “which can not pe possible if animals are keeping,” the passive construction is faulty. Some long sentences also combine several ideas without clear grammatical boundaries. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and complete verb phrases, then divide overloaded sentences into shorter units while retaining a few accurately formed complex structures.
