Student answer (Band 4.5)

I am disagree with this statement because zoo should be remain open for all human being because when their is no zoo so where the animals go.

However, zoo should be open because it is the place of happiness and enjoyment .Also parents bring their children for entertainment. Animal became friends of the children the reason is that children give food to the animals while the animals play with them. Also ,in the zoo their is the panda who make the funny steps and doing rounds to make the people happy

In my conclusion , i think zoo should not be close because it is the entertainment place for the people and also the place of animal for live.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You clearly disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons: they provide entertainment for families and a place for animals to live. The examples of children feeding animals and watching a panda are connected to your position. However, the response addresses the issue only minimally. The question asks whether animals still need to be kept in zoos, but your reasons focus mainly on enjoyment; the opening question about where animals would go is not explained or supported. The conclusion repeats your view rather than developing it. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, leaving too little space to explain and support your ideas. Develop reasons such as conservation or animal welfare, and include specific supporting examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic overall structure: you state your opinion, give supporting points, and finish with a conclusion. Connectors such as “However,” “Also,” and “In my conclusion” help signal the stages of your response. At this level, though, progression is limited: the second paragraph lists entertainment-related points without clearly separating or explaining them, and “However” does not introduce a contrasting idea. Some links between ideas are abrupt, particularly the move from children feeding animals to the panda’s behaviour. Use separate paragraphs for distinct reasons, and make each paragraph follow a clear sequence: main point, explanation, and example. Choose linking expressions according to the relationship between ideas rather than repeating simple additions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

Your vocabulary is basic but generally communicates the main topic, using words such as “animals,” “children,” “entertainment,” and “happiness.” There are attempts to express specific ideas, including “the funny steps” of the panda. However, the range is repetitive, and several word choices or combinations are unnatural and make the message less clear, such as “place of happiness and enjoyment,” “animals for live,” and “make the people happy.” Use more precise topic vocabulary and natural collocations—for example, describe zoos as places for “wildlife conservation” or “public education,” if those are the ideas you intend. Vary repeated words such as “place” and “people,” and check word forms and spelling so your meaning is easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You communicate a clear opinion using mostly short, simple statements, and the reader can understand the general message. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and the range of sentence structures is very limited. Examples include “I am disagree,” “zoo should be remain open,” and “when their is no zoo,” which show problems with verb forms, articles, and subject–verb agreement. In “the panda who make the funny steps,” the relative clause also has an agreement error. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, especially around commas and full stops. Practise accurate simple sentence patterns first, then combine related ideas with clauses such as “because” or “although.” Proofread for verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
