Student answer (Band 6.0)
Zoo is considered as the safe shelter for animals. Variety of birds, mammals and fishes can be explored under one roof. Therefore, I disagree with the notion to shut down the zoos because it is illustrated as educational environment and a place for entertainment to children.
Firstly, Zoo is built up to protect endangered species and provide good care and protection for them from harsh environment. Moreover, a shelter is provided to guarantee safeguard for animals during storm and rain. Basic facilities like coolers, water ponds and healthy meat is surved for their survival. Moreover, medical teams and care takers are hired for their nurture. For example, deers, lions , zebras are protected from their predators in forests.
In addition, Schools and Universities visit zoos every year to encourage their students to learn about different animals. However, this shadows light on the lifestyle and species of existing animals. Secondly, it gives opportunity for childrens to enjoy and participate in fun activities during their summer and winter breaks. This expands their knowledge about mammals, different water bodies and rarely seen animals. For example, hippopatamus can be only seen in zoos.
In my opinion, zoo needs to be kept for future generation to promote understanding and knowledge about different species. This is a home for many animals who needs love and care. In addition, safe environment helps them live for years. Schools should encourage their students to visit zoo and learn about variety of animals. Therefore, they deserve a positive and healthy environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons about animal protection and education. The examples of schools visiting and endangered species help address the question, and your conclusion restates your view. This meets the task well, but the support is uneven: the claim that zoos protect animals from harsh conditions is explained, while the entertainment point is less fully connected to why zoos should remain open. Some claims also need qualification or clearer support, such as “hippopotamus can be only seen in zoos,” which is too broad. To strengthen the response further, develop each main reason with a more precise example and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from animal protection to education and recreation is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “In addition,” and “In my opinion” help guide the reader. However, some linking is mechanical, and the sequence is occasionally confusing: “Moreover” is repeated in the first body paragraph, while “Secondly” appears after “In addition” without a clearly established first point in that paragraph. The reference in “this shadows light” is also unclear, making the relationship between school visits and learning less smooth. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make links between each claim and its explanation more explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “predators,” “medical teams,” and “future generation,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but several are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “shadows light,” “surved,” and “for their nurture.” Some word choices are imprecise, including “safe shelter” and “good care and protection,” while “hippopotamus can be only seen in zoos” overstates the point. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling and word forms before using more ambitious vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more developed sentence forms, including the opening sentence with “because” and the sentence beginning “Moreover, a shelter is provided…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Zoo is considered” needs an article or plural form, “Schools and Universities visit” has inconsistent capitalisation and number, and “animals who needs” has a subject–verb agreement error. There are also problems with plural forms and sentence construction in “opportunity for childrens” and “a home for many animals who needs love and care.” Work on articles, agreement, and plural nouns, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb. More accurate complex sentences would improve control.
