Student answer (Band 6.0)
Animals are the important creatures of the earth. We always have to deal with them polietly, patiently and with so much love. Some people think we should not keep the animals in zoos and zoos need to be shut down. In my opinion zoos should not be closed as long as animals are taken care. The essay further explains the reasons.
To begin with, if zoo members are doing their jobs properly, then there is no need to close them. Infact, so many animals are at extinction level. Keeping them in zoo provide the safety and children have knowledge about such animals. For example, lions are not easily found in the forests and one cannot goes closer to them without any security. Children can atleast get a glimpse of lions in the zoo. They know that such animals still exist.
Furthermore, keeping animals in zoo does not mean that they are harmed or not treated properly. To illustrate, animals at "African Lion Safari" in Canada, treated with such a patience. All the animals get fed on time. Each animal is kept in different areas and they have huge space to roam around. Moreover, people cannot touch any zoo animal and they are always monitor by security guards.
To conclude, everybody gets excited when they find different variety of animals. Zoo is the only place where children get more knowledge about animals and get familiar with various species. So if animals are taken care with love and patience, zoos should not be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with closing zoos, provided animals are cared for. You give relevant reasons, including protection for endangered animals and opportunities for children to learn, and support these with examples about lions and African Lion Safari. This addresses the task and gives the essay a clear central argument. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the claim that many animals are near extinction is not linked in detail to how zoos help conserve them, and the safari example mainly describes feeding and space without showing how this answers concerns about keeping animals captive. Develop these links and acknowledge a counterargument to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “To begin with” and “Furthermore,” and a concluding paragraph. The ideas generally progress from conservation and education to animal care, so the reader can follow your position. Some linking is mechanical, however, and the conclusion repeats the earlier points rather than drawing them together. References such as “such animals” are understandable but could be more precise, and the transition from endangered species to children seeing lions could be explained more smoothly. Use a wider range of natural connections and make each paragraph develop one main claim through explanation and evidence; this would make the progression more consistently fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “extinction,” “species,” “security guards,” and “roam around,” and your meaning is generally clear. There is some attempt at more specific language, but several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “deal with them polietly,” “at extinction level,” and “get fed on time” are examples. Repetition of “animals,” “zoo,” and “children” also limits flexibility. Choose precise topic vocabulary and check common word partnerships and spelling. For example, describe animals as “endangered,” say they are “treated with care,” and refer to “a wide variety of species.” These improvements would make your vocabulary more accurate and varied.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if zoo members are doing their jobs properly” and a concession in “as long as animals are taken care.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement, verb forms, and passive constructions. Examples include “Keeping them in zoo provide,” “one cannot goes closer,” and “animals at ‘African Lion Safari’ in Canada, treated.” The final example needs a finite verb, while the others require agreement and correct verb forms. Practise checking each sentence for a subject and verb, and review articles and plural forms. More accurate control of these patterns would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
