Student answer (Band 5.5)
Zoos are the one of most the charming places to ever exist.I strongly believes that animals also deserves freedom and should not have kept in the zoos however, there are some exceptions to it.
Animals are one of the most important part of the nature. Every animal is unique and has their own abilities to survive in nature.Zoos management can only fulfill the food requirments to the animals but they cannot provide the other requirments of these innocent creatures. Every animal has their own way of living but in the zoo they are often kept in bigg or small cages.Wild animals like lions, tigers, white leopards can be very dangerous and they are kept in bigg cages. These conditions can be very dangerous for them as they are not suppose to live like this. Animals are not meant to be kept on the zoos.
In addition to that, animals in the zoos often dies because of different reasons. One of the biggest reason for this the zoo staf does not pay enough attention to those animals. Thier main target is to maintain the cost of the zoo which can lead to less investment in the less investment in the medical needs of the animals. There is also serveral incidents reported related to zoos that a dangerous animal like a bear attacks a tourist because there are not enough safety provided in that area of the zoo.
Moreover, I also believe that the animals that are kept in zoo cannot survive in nature. That is because they lost their abilty to survive in the jungle. That is why this should be assured by the the zoo management that these innocent creatures recieve a proper care after the zoo is closed

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a recognisable position: you support animals’ freedom but allow “some exceptions,” and you offer relevant concerns about confinement, care, and visitor safety. These points address the topic, but the position is not fully clear because the exceptions are never identified and the conclusion shifts towards what should happen after zoos close without explaining whether all zoos should close. Several claims, such as animals dying because staff do not pay attention, need a specific example or explanation. The point that zoo animals may not survive in nature is important, but it is left unresolved. Develop this tension and explain what alternatives—such as sanctuaries or conservation centres—could provide care.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with separate paragraphs for animal welfare, zoo management and the difficulty of releasing animals. Linking phrases such as “In addition to that” and “Moreover” help signal new points. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the opening mentions exceptions, but the body does not explain them, and the final paragraph raises a complication without connecting it to a definite recommendation. Some links are mechanical, while repeated references to “animals” and “the zoo” make the flow less smooth. Build each paragraph around one clear claim, then explain and support it, and use pronouns or more precise references where the meaning remains clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “freedom,” “cages,” “medical needs,” and “survive in nature,” so the reader can follow the main concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise. For example, “the one of most the charming places” does not express the intended idea clearly, and “maintain the cost” is not a natural way to describe managing expenses. Spelling errors such as “requirments,” “Thier,” and “serveral” are also noticeable. Aim for accurate phrases such as “animal welfare,” “operating costs,” and “suitable care,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “That is because,” but complex structures are often not controlled accurately. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in examples such as “I strongly believes,” “animals … deserves,” and “animals … often dies.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic, as in “Zoos are the one of most the charming places,” while missing spaces after full stops and commas affect punctuation. These errors recur and can make the reader pause, although the main message is generally recoverable. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then use a few well-controlled complex sentences to explain cause and effect.
