Student answer (Band 5.0)

Animals are not longer kept in zoos and zoos is closing soon is one of the biggest loss for the people.

I'm disagreeing with it because I think Zoo is the place where community visit and see the beautiful animals and birds. Most of the people like kids and adults visit zoo to explore the new and rear birds and animals which they can't see or explore in their acutal life. Most of the time people want to visit zoo for informotion and enjoy.

Zoo is the place where dangerous and big animals or birds kept, but most of the time it is harmful for community as well. Closing down the zoo can reduce the interest of people in animals and birds which can make lack of informotion.

There is a reason for disagreeing with closing down the zoos. In my country, where I belong to, there is no zoo and people of the local area can't take their kids out for some fun and stuck at certain point. Secondly, kids will be unaweare of the rear animals and birds which they never seen in their daily life. Means they have the lack of knowloegde about animals. On the other hand, animals which are disabled can live here in zoo and take care of them with good style so kids learn positive things from our member of the zoo.

Government should give funds to local community for the zoo. People can keep the zoo active and can come and enjoy the zoo and have fun with cute and rear animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons, including public access to animals, children’s learning, and care for disabled animals. These points show a response to the question, but the argument is only partly developed. For example, you say that zoos provide “informotion” and that closing them could reduce people’s interest, without explaining how zoos educate visitors or support conservation. The claim that your country has no zoo is also not connected clearly to evidence about why zoos should remain open. To strengthen the response, explain each main reason with a specific example and address the opposing concern that keeping animals in captivity may be harmful.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, and the reader can follow its broad movement from your opinion to reasons and a concluding recommendation. You also use signposts such as “Secondly” and “On the other hand.” However, progression between ideas is uneven: the paragraph about dangerous animals introduces possible harm but does not explain how this relates to your disagreement, while the final paragraph repeats the idea of visiting and enjoying zoos rather than drawing the argument together. Some links are mechanical, and references such as “here” and “our member of the zoo” are unclear. Give each paragraph one main purpose, connect examples directly to that purpose, and use clearer references and transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a small range of topic-related vocabulary, including “community,” “disabled,” “funds,” and “local area,” which helps communicate your main ideas. However, vocabulary is often repetitive or imprecise, particularly repeated references to “animals and birds,” “visit,” and “fun.” Several spelling errors, including “acutal,” “informotion,” “unaweare,” and “knowloegde,” make the writing less clear. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “rear animals” and “with good style.” Build a wider set of accurate terms for the topic, such as wildlife, endangered species, conservation, and animal welfare, and check spelling and collocations carefully. This would make your reasons more precise and easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and some meaning is understandable, for example in the sentence about children learning about animals they do not see in daily life. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles sometimes make the reader work to understand the point. Examples include “I'm disagreeing with it,” “zoos is closing,” and “animals or birds kept,” where the verb forms or sentence construction are faulty. The sentence beginning “In my country, where I belong to” is also awkwardly structured. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then combine them with subordinate clauses; check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms when editing.
