Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is suggested that keeping animals in the artifical environment are no longer necessary, so zoos must be closed. However, I disagree with the view and believe that zoos should remain open as long as animals are provided suitable environment.
One main advantage why zoos are essential is that they are a good source of education. Many types of animals are kept in the zoos that are on the edge of extinction. By visiting zoos, people can learn about animals behaviour and their diet in detail. In addition, they also can get depth knowledge about endangered species, which may encourage individuals to preserve them for the future generation. In this way, zoos play an important role to educate a large number of people about in an interesting and practical way.
Economic growth of the country can be another benefits of having zoos. When there are zoos in the nation, they can promote tourism in the particular area. This is beacuse people might be interested to know more about the different animals, and zoos are considered a source of entertainment. So people prefer to travel in different country in order to visit zoos. While visiting a different country, they have to spend a large sum of money on travel, food and even accommodation, which generates the revenue in the country.
However, in some zoos animals are kept in the tight clousers, which restricted their freedom and activities they they usually enjoy in their natural habitats. I believe zoos still play an important role untill they provide suitable and perfect environment to the animals, where they can enjoy their activities.
In conclusion, animals should kept in the zoos beacuse they provide educational and econ

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with closing zoos, provided animals receive suitable conditions. You support this with relevant points about education and tourism, and you acknowledge the counterargument that confined animals may lose freedom. This covers the task and shows some development, particularly in explaining how zoo visits can teach people about endangered species. However, the tourism point is less fully connected to why zoos should remain open, and the conclusion is cut off after “educational and econ…”, so it does not complete the argument or restate your position effectively. To strengthen the response, explain more specifically how education and tourism benefit animal conservation, and finish with a complete conclusion that directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for education and tourism, a counterargument, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through your ideas. Linking phrases such as “In addition,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships, although some connections feel mechanical, and “So” is rather informal in this context. There is also an unclear reference in “they can promote tourism,” where “they” could refer to zoos or the country. The final sentence is incomplete, which disrupts the ending and leaves the progression unfinished. Use clearer references, connect each supporting point explicitly to your position, and ensure the conclusion forms a complete final paragraph.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “natural habitats,” “preserve,” and “revenue,” which helps communicate your main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a large sum of money.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “get depth knowledge,” “another benefits,” “tight clousers,” and “perfect environment.” Spelling errors such as “artifical,” “beacuse,” and “untill” are noticeable and reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Focus on learning common word partnerships and checking spelling; for example, use “gain in-depth knowledge” and “suitable conditions.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional clause in “as long as animals are provided suitable environment” and a relative clause in “species, which may encourage individuals to preserve them.” This shows some range, and the main ideas are generally understandable. However, there are several errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “keeping animals … are” should use a singular verb, “animals should kept” is missing “be,” and “which restricted their freedom” needs a correctly formed verb. The sentence beginning “In this way” also has an incomplete construction around “educate … about.” Improve accuracy by checking subject–verb agreement and ensuring each sentence has a complete, correctly formed clause.
