Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this modern era, everyone is busy in their life or in work culture. Many people believe that there is no need to have animals kept in zoos due to some reasons so, they think it should be closed permanent. I agree with the statement and give my views in upcoming paragraphs.
To commence with, people think that no longer need of animals to keep them at zoos because many times it should be dangerous for visitors. To elaborate, there will be a chance of attack from animals on visitors when they visit the zoos, sometimes the animals are angry due to enough space for their survive due to that they can attack on visitors specially on children which may cause a serious problem if that happened. So, people think the animals have to free from zoos and zoos should be closed.
Furthermore, if the animals will be free from the site then the zoos should be closed because if the animals will not present at zoos then there is no chance of visitors to see the zoos. Moreover, when visitors will not come for visit then automatically the revenue of zoos will be reduced and it should not possible to run the zoos without money or to pay the salaries of staff then zoos have to closed to avoid unnecessary expenses. So, the best way is to closed the zoos.
To conclude, as people think there is no need to have animals kept in zoos due to accidents or unnecessary incidents so, it is good for everyone that zoos should be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear: you agree that zoos should close, and you give two relevant reasons—possible attacks on visitors and the financial consequences if zoos have no animals or visitors. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because it mainly explains why zoos might close, rather than fully examining whether animals should no longer be kept in them. The safety point is asserted but not supported with a specific example, and the second paragraph largely repeats the idea that empty zoos would lose revenue. Develop the reasoning by explaining why closure is preferable to improving safety or moving animals to sanctuaries, and support each main point with a concrete example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “To commence with” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. The ideas generally follow a logical order, and linking expressions such as “To elaborate” and “Moreover” help signal development. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with repeated patterns such as “So” and repeated references to zoos being closed. Some connections are also unclear: the second body paragraph moves from animals being freed to visitor numbers and revenue without explaining why freeing animals is the only possible outcome. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its consequence explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main points, including “visitors,” “animals,” “revenue,” and “salaries.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are noticeably inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “busy in their life or in work culture” does not clearly introduce the issue, while “animals are angry due to enough space for their survive” appears to express the opposite of the intended meaning. Phrases such as “free from zoos” and “unnecessary incidents” are also imprecise. Aim for natural, specific expressions such as “limited space,” “attacks on visitors,” and “operating costs,” and avoid repeating the same basic terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “when,” and “if.” This gives the response some structural variety, but complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the argument difficult to follow. For instance, “there is no need of animals to keep them at zoos” has an unclear grammatical structure, while “if the animals will be free … then the zoos should be closed” uses an unsuitable conditional form. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and infinitive patterns, as in “it should not possible” and “have to closed.” Practise accurate sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences using correct verb forms and clause structures.
