Student answer (Band 6.5)
In many parts of the world, some individuals believe that we donot need to keep animals in zoos, therefore zoos should be closed. However, I disagree with this statement as zoos play a vital role in the conservation of endangered animal species and also promotes tourism in a country.
To begin with, zoos play a fundamental role in the protection of rare animal species. There are many animal species in the world, which are at a high risk of extinction. Those species can be conserved in these zoos, to protect them from the threat of extinction. Secondly, zoos promotes tourism in the region. Many tourists visits zoos to see different animal species, which eventually promotes sales of the local shopkeepers. It helps them to generate profits and acts as a source of income for them. Therefore, zoos are beneficial for the economic growth of a country and should not be closed.
On the other hand, some individuals argue that animals should not be kept in zoos as it restricts their freedom. In zoos, animals have to stay inside the fences and they are constantly visited by the tourists. Some animals does not like this and sometimes become sick. For example, in United States, it is illegal to capture animals in zoos, because it has adverse effects on the health of poor animals. Therefore, some people believe that we should not keep animals in zoos, so zoos should be closed.
In conclusion, although, keeping animals in the zoos might decrease their freedom, zoos play an essential role in the protection of endangered animal species and also attracts many tourists. Therefore, zoos should not be closed.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you disagree with closing zoos, chiefly because they can protect endangered species and support tourism. You also acknowledge the opposing concern about animals’ freedom, so the response addresses both sides of the question. The conservation point is relevant, but it would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how zoos help breeding or rehabilitation. The tourism argument is also less fully developed: the link to local shopkeepers is stated, but not illustrated or explored. The claim about the United States is broad and needs clarification or reliable support. These relevant but unevenly developed ideas keep the response from being consistently extended and supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear four-part structure, with an introduction, arguments supporting your view, a counterargument, and a conclusion. The progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers see how the points relate. The conclusion returns to your position rather than introducing a new argument. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, because several sentences begin with “Therefore,” and the second body paragraph repeats the opposing view already introduced. You could improve flow by linking each example directly to the claim it supports and using pronouns or varied transitions to avoid repeated signposting.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “conservation,” “endangered animal species,” “threat of extinction,” and “economic growth.” These choices make your main ideas clear, and you attempt some less common expressions such as “fundamental role” and “adverse effects.” However, several word choices or collocations are imprecise or repetitive: “promotes tourism” is repeated, “sales of the local shopkeepers” is not a natural phrase, and “poor animals” is too informal for this argument. “Donot” is also incorrectly written as one word. Aim for more precise phrasing and check spelling and collocations; this would make the vocabulary more flexible and natural without changing your clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although keeping animals in the zoos might decrease their freedom” and a relative clause in “which eventually promotes sales.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some agreement and sentence-structure errors persist. For example, “zoos play … and also promotes” should keep the verb forms parallel, while “Many tourists visits” and “Some animals does not” require plural subjects with plural verbs. The opening “although” in the conclusion is also followed by an unnecessary comma. Review subject–verb agreement, parallel constructions, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence. Greater accuracy across these structures would strengthen the control shown in your varied sentences.
