Student answer (Band 5.0)
some people agree that zoo should be closed beacuse animals have to live freely, but in my opinion i think i disagree with this zoo taught us so many informative thimgs related to animals. zoo are not only important for us but also for the people who wants to research on animals also for the students and kids to learn new things related to animals.
the most important thimg is there are so many animal who are endager and jsut few of them are left in this planet like pandas. zoo plays a vital role to save these type of species.
some zoo which are not taking care of animals properly shoiuld be closed if they dont know about how to take carae of animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear, relevant position: you disagree with closing zoos, and you offer reasons involving education, research and protecting endangered species. The point that poorly managed zoos should close also adds a qualification to your view. However, the response addresses the task only partially: these ideas are stated briefly rather than explained or supported with specific examples, and the discussion does not fully consider the argument that animals should live freely. The response is 125 words short of the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop your reasons. To strengthen the answer, explain how zoos educate or support conservation, give a relevant example, and address the opposing view before concluding clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
Your ideas are grouped into three short sections: your position and the educational value of zoos, the role of zoos in protecting endangered animals, and the need to close zoos that provide poor care. This gives the response some organisation, and phrases such as “but” and “also” help connect points. However, progression is limited because each idea is introduced but not developed, and the final point feels abrupt rather than forming a conclusion. Some connections are repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “also” and “related to animals.” Use clear paragraphing for your position, supporting reasons and conclusion, and add linking phrases that show how each reason supports your overall view.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use basic vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “research,” “species,” “save” and “take care of animals,” so your main meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or imprecise expressions make the writing less clear, such as “endager,” “thimgs” and “zoo plays a vital role.” Some phrases are repetitive, especially “related to animals,” and “informative things” is vague. Aim to use more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, you could refer to “conservation programmes,” “endangered species” and “animal welfare,” then explain these terms with relevant details rather than repeating general wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your main position using simple sentence patterns, and you attempt to connect ideas with clauses such as “if they don’t know about how to take care of animals.” However, the range of structures is limited, and errors in sentence formation and agreement occur frequently. For example, “zoo should be closed” needs a plural or an article, while “zoo are not only important” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence also combines several ideas without clear punctuation, and “i think i disagree” is awkwardly constructed. Practise accurate sentence boundaries, articles, plural forms and subject–verb agreement. Building a few clear complex sentences will help you express reasons and conditions more effectively.
