Student answer (Band 6.0)
Zoos are a place where animals are kept in a controlled environment for people to come and see. Nowadays, it is believed that animals are not required to be kept in zoos anymore and is a highly debated topic. However, I strongly disagree with this statement and will talk more about why zoos are important and wildlife should be kept in them.
Firstly, zoos are a place of entertainment where people can visit and see a large variety of animals all together at one place. It gives public the exposure to some of the animals that they would never see in their entire life otherwise. Some of the wildest and rarest animals from all over the globe are kept in a zoo which are properly taken care of. For instance, elephants and lions are only found in dense jungles and are not a normal sight.
Furthermore, animals kept in the zoo are properly looked after and maintained, which helps to preserve the some of endangered species. Some of the zoos also run program initiative which studies and reserach on preserving the species in a particular habitat. Some of the red parrots kept in zoo are given an environemt which helps them to breed and increase their number, for example.
I strongly agree that zoos plays an important role in conservation of animal and should remain a place where animals are kept. Proper care and supervision of the animals in the zoos leads to conserving our wildlife while giving piblic a chance to experience wildlife along with preventing some endangered species to get extinct.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you disagree with closing zoos, and you give relevant reasons involving public access to wildlife and conservation. The examples of elephants and lions, and of parrots breeding in a protected environment, help illustrate these points. However, the argument is not developed equally throughout. The entertainment and exposure point is explained, but it is less directly connected to why zoos should remain open; the conservation point could be supported with a more specific example of a species or programme. There is also a contradiction in the conclusion: “I strongly agree” conflicts with your stated disagreement. Keep your position consistent and explain more fully how each reason answers the proposal to close zoos.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a concluding paragraph. The ideas generally progress from public access to conservation, and examples are placed alongside the points they support. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the repeated use of “Some of the” and the formulaic transitions make cohesion somewhat mechanical. The conclusion also disrupts the flow because “I strongly agree” contradicts the position established earlier. Use clearer links that show how the second reason builds on the first, and ensure the final paragraph consistently restates your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “controlled environment,” “endangered species,” “preserve,” and “conservation,” which makes the subject clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “habitat” and “breed.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “maintained” is awkward for describing animal care, and “program initiative” is unclear. Spelling errors such as “reserach,” “environemt,” and “piblic” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe animals as being “cared for” and refer to “conservation programmes.” This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including relative clauses such as “where animals are kept” and a subordinate clause beginning “which helps.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. In the introduction, “animals are not required … and is a highly debated topic” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an unclear subject for “is.” Other examples include “It gives public” (missing an article), “the preserve the some” (incorrect structure), and “zoos plays” (subject–verb agreement). The conclusion also shifts from “I strongly disagree” to “I strongly agree,” affecting clarity. Review agreement, articles, and sentence construction, and proofread each sentence to ensure its subject and verb match.
