Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that Zoos should be shut down because of lessen requirement to keep animals there. I strongly agree with this statement as animals should be free

There are many compeigns runnig for the rights of animals, that you can not put animals in the cage. There are many negative aspects of keeping animals in zoos. You can get entertainment for a while but it will effect the health of animals. Animals required alot of care and healty food but only some zoos can take care of them properly because of budget and workforce issues. As humans want to live freely likewise animals wish to spend life same. As technology is evolving nowadays people can enjoy in other ways like in water parks and for children enjoyment purposes you can create artificial animals. There is a zoo in my city where there are alot of animals but due staff neglegance many zebras and deers are suffing. They become weak and the reason is administration is failed to give them proper food. After vising that place now I am firmly believe that now zoos should be closed.

Other disadvantage is that if any animal get ill in zoo then thre are chances of infection spread in human beings. When children and adults visit there and animals is infected, they might catch virus in this way animal virus will spread in whole city.

In conclusion, Many points prove that in this time there is no need left to make special places for animals like zoo, It is neccessary to close them and make animals free.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you strongly agree that zoos should close, and you give relevant reasons, including animal welfare, inadequate care, and possible disease transmission. The example of zebras and deer suffering at a local zoo helps make the welfare argument more concrete. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The claim that zoo animals could spread infection to an entire city is presented without explaining how likely this is or giving supporting evidence. The alternatives of water parks and artificial animals are also mentioned briefly, without showing how they replace the educational or conservation roles of zoos. Develop these points with clearer reasoning and examples to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it states a position, gives reasons in separate paragraphs, and ends with a conclusion that reinforces the view. Linking phrases such as “There are many negative aspects,” “Other disadvantage,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the move from animal welfare to water parks and artificial animals is abrupt, and “Other disadvantage” does not clearly connect the disease point to the earlier discussion. The local-zoo example and the writer’s conclusion about closure could also be linked more explicitly. Use topic sentences that identify each paragraph’s main claim, then explain how each example supports it.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including relevant terms such as “rights of animals,” “administration,” “infection,” and “budget and workforce issues.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less natural or occasionally harder to understand. Examples include “compeigns,” “runnig,” “neglegance,” and “suffing”; these should be checked carefully. Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “lessen requirement” and “animals wish to spend life same.” Aim for accurate collocations and more precise wording, for example, describing animals as needing “adequate care” and “appropriate nutrition.” Proofreading for spelling and choosing natural phrases will improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is generally understandable. There are some grammatical errors, particularly with articles, agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. For example, “Animals required alot of care” needs a suitable verb form, while “animals is infected” has a subject–verb agreement problem. In “There are many compeigns runnig for the rights of animals, that you can not put animals in the cage,” the clause structure and punctuation are unclear. The opening also ends with an incomplete sentence: “as animals should be free.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement and punctuation when joining clauses.
