Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is been argued that animals should not be kept in the zoos instead they should be set free so that they can live their life independently and all the zoos should be shut down permanently. I strongly disagree with the statement and will discuss the reasons in this essay.

To begin with zoos plays an vital role in todays Era as it attracts people and everyone can go there and see all the animals. It also puts great impact on students as is has been seen that most of the schools organise trips to zoo so that children can get to know about all the animals which they might not see in their normal life. Moreover, zoos also helps in growing the economy of the country by attracting tourist.

In addition to this all the animals are safe in the zoos and get healty lifestyle. Even the endangered species can be find in the zoos and they also help them to reproduce so that number of those animals can be increased. There is also a medical staff which look after all the animals so that they are always healthy and if they get affected by any illness they are taken to the hospital to get proper treatment. In the recent survey it has been observed that animals in the zoos are more safe rather than in the jungle and they also live more healthy and long life.

To conclude with i will say that zoos are very cruical for the animals because they can live healthy life there and it also bring money into the economy. Most important anybody can see and learn about the history of any animal. So i would say instead of closing them government should also take some measures to save them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly disagree with closing zoos, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the question with relevant reasons, including education, tourism, animal care, and breeding endangered species. The examples about school trips and veterinary staff help explain your points. However, some ideas are asserted rather than fully supported: for instance, the claim that zoo animals are safer and live longer is attributed to a survey but no detail is given, and the economic benefit is mentioned only briefly. The final point about learning an animal’s “history” is also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain how each reason supports keeping zoos and develop the evidence or examples more specifically.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion summarises your position. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition to this,” and “To conclude” make the progression easy to follow. This gives the response a coherent arrangement, although some connections feel mechanical and ideas within paragraphs could be grouped more precisely. For example, the first body paragraph moves from visitor appeal to school learning and then the economy without explaining the relationship between these points. The conclusion also introduces learning about an animal’s “history,” which has not been developed earlier. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and make sure each paragraph has a focused central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “endangered species,” “reproduce,” “medical staff,” and “proper treatment.” These terms show some ability to discuss conservation and animal care. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “animals,” “zoos,” “healthy,” and “safe,” while several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable: “growing the economy,” “healty,” “cruical,” and “live their life independently.” Some expressions, such as “history of any animal,” do not convey the intended meaning clearly. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for animal welfare and conservation, and check spelling and natural word combinations when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “so that” and “which,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. Examples include “It is been argued,” “zoos plays,” “an vital role,” “zoos also helps,” and “animals are safe … and get healthy lifestyle.” There are also punctuation problems, such as missing spaces after full stops and the comma splice in the opening sentence. These errors sometimes make the phrasing awkward, even though the main message remains clear. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and article use, and divide long sentences into correctly punctuated clauses.
