Student answer (Band 5.5)

Animals play a crucial role in entire ecosystem. Some people believes animal should be in forest or in natural environment with regardless of freedom and zoos should be shut down. I partly agree with this statement because this is beneficial for ecosystem and wildlife well-being.

Firstly, each and every person and any creature want live their life with full freedom. In this modern world, plenty of species are on extinction because of human activites like hunting and for any profit. As a results, we are losing lot of species such as birds, insects and fish. Moreover, animals are connected with foodchain of other speices of fauna of globe. For example, deer is a food of lion as well rat is food of snake.

However, zoos are essential place where can enjoy wildlife. Zoos are the best place where can we watch animal with safety. For instance, our children can lern and explore animals from zoo.

Furthermore, another benefit of zoo is opportuniy for some people who are conncted such as ticket counters, hotels and transport sector.

In my opinion, government should make rules and regulations regardless of safety and freedom of animals to prevent extinction as well as make museams about them. As a result, people can influance ans protect animals.

In conclusion, although zoos are best option to watch animals, they can not live thier life with their freedom. However, government can make it wisely for people who are connected.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a relevant response and state a partly agreeing position, with reasons both for protecting animals in natural habitats and for retaining zoos. However, the position is not fully clear: the opening says zoos should be shut down, while later you describe them as essential and conclude that the government should decide “wisely.” The points about extinction and children learning are relevant, but they need fuller explanation and clearer links to whether zoos should close. The employment point is also asserted rather than supported. The response is 9 words below the required minimum, so it does not meet the task’s length requirement. Develop a consistent position and support each main reason with a specific explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “However,” and “Furthermore” help signal the movement between ideas, and the contrast between animal freedom and the benefits of zoos is relevant. However, the overall progression is not always clear because the essay shifts from arguing that zoos should close to calling them essential, without resolving that tension. Some links between sentences are also abrupt; for example, the food-chain example does not clearly explain how it supports the argument about zoos. Improve cohesion by grouping each paragraph around one clear reason and using references and transitions to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “ecosystem,” “extinction,” “wildlife,” and “rules and regulations,” which helps communicate the subject. There is also an attempt to use less common terms such as “species” and “food chain.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “activites,” “speices,” “opportuniy,” and “influance.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “with regardless of freedom,” “essential place,” and “connected with foodchain.” These choices sometimes make the intended meaning harder to follow. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, explain that zoos can support conservation rather than describing them simply as places to watch animals.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple sentences and more complex forms, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “although.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. Examples include “Some people believes” (subject–verb agreement), “want live” (missing infinitive marker), “a food of lion” (article and number), and “where can enjoy wildlife” (incomplete clause structure). The conclusion also contains unclear sentence construction: “government can make it wisely for people who are connected.” Practise accurate sentence patterns before adding complexity, especially agreement, articles, infinitives and complete clauses. Proofreading each sentence for a clear subject and verb would improve control.
