Do you agree or disagree?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
I disagree with the opinion that all zoos should be closed because zoos plays and important roles in protecting the animals, educating people and preventing some endangered species from becoming extinct.
Firstly, zoos provides shelter and protection for animals that are endangered or risk for extinct. Some animals hunted by human or lose their natural habitats because of deforestation. keeping them in well-managed and well secured zoos can help protect them from these dangers....
Secondly....Zoos helps to educate children and adult about different kinds of animals. people who visit zoos can learn about wildlife, their behavior and its importance. For example, children can see lions, elephant, monkeys and other wild animals and understand why they should be protected.
Furthermore, some zoos are part on breeding programmes to increase the population of endangered animals before returning them to suitable natural habitats.
However,I believe that animal should not be kept in zoos where they are treated badly or kept in uncomfortable condition. Zoos should provide enough space, good care, good food and proper medical attention that is suitable for the animals.
In conclusion,I disagree that zoos should be completely closed. Instead, government should ensure that all zoos are properly managed and that animals are treated fairly with maximum respect. This will help protect wildlife and all animals in general for future generations to experience a nice view have a beautiful understanding of what zoos are all about..

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you disagree with closing zoos, while recognising that poor conditions should not be accepted. You address several relevant reasons—protection from hunting and habitat loss, public education, and breeding programmes—and the example of children seeing wild animals helps illustrate the educational point. This covers the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the breeding-programme point is only briefly stated, and the response gives little explanation or evidence about how zoos protect animals in practice. The length requirement is not met: the response is 16 words below the minimum. To strengthen the answer, develop each main reason with a specific example and explain how it supports your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate supporting points, a qualification, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Furthermore,” and “However” make the progression easy to follow. This is a coherent arrangement, though some linking is mechanical and the second point begins with repeated dots rather than a clean transition. The final sentence also becomes difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded together, particularly “for future generations to experience a nice view have a beautiful understanding.” Use complete, clearly separated sentences and make the relationship between ideas explicit. For example, explain the educational benefit in one sentence, then connect it to why conservation matters.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “endangered species,” “natural habitats,” “deforestation,” “breeding programmes,” and “medical attention.” These terms help communicate the main arguments, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision, such as “risk for extinct,” “part on breeding programmes,” and “experience a nice view.” Capitalisation and spacing are inconsistent, including “people” after a full stop and “wildlife, their.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise phrasing, especially when describing animal welfare and conservation. For instance, “at risk of extinction” and “take part in breeding programmes” would express your ideas more accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because zoos plays…” and a relative clause in “animals that are endangered.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some errors in agreement, articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries reduce accuracy. Examples include “zoos plays” and “Zoos provides,” where plural subjects need plural verbs, and “educate children and adult,” where the noun should be plural. “However,I believe that animal should not be kept” also needs clearer punctuation and an article or plural form. The final sentence contains a run-on construction. Check subject–verb agreement and read each sentence aloud to identify where a full stop is needed.
