Student answer (Band 5.5)

People have different views about putting animals in zoos. Some eople think that there are no need to keep animals in cages and some think that they should be kept in zoos. I am agree with this view point to some extent, which i will discuss below.

Firstly, some animals are on about to distinct like, lions. So it's important for them to keep in zoos,so that they can stay safe especially from hunting expamlpe.Aditionally ,scientists can increses their population by artifical breeding method or put stimulator to increase breeding rate . Secondly, Becasue of deforestation , enviornment not left same in forests like animal species are not even safe in forest, like elepants need loose sand to maintain their body temperature, but according to forest researchers land in forests become hard , so its better to keep them in zoo with suitable environment.

On the other hand , it have negative impacts on animal ae well, they also thave right of freedom. Some zoos use them to make money ann make them to participate in some kind of acts like dolpins are used in circus and dolpin show cases.Zoo authories cage them and make money from them. This impact negatively on wild species, like they become more wild , and loose control on them selves. Other example, some make animals starve for food few days to show their acts and strength to public in shows, like cheetas , they shows their strength and speed behind running cars with food.

Resultantly, there are some inhuman acts done by zoos like animal circus, strengthening shows toward animal. But in my opinions keeing animals in zooz are good for them to keep them safe and for increasin their populations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a position that is broadly clear in the conclusion: you believe keeping animals in zoos is beneficial, despite acknowledging harmful practices. The response also presents relevant reasons on both sides, including protection from hunting, breeding programmes, habitat changes, and animal shows. However, the opening says you agree “to some extent,” while the conclusion gives a more definite endorsement, so your stance is not fully consistent. Several points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that forest conditions make zoos preferable, and the claim that captivity makes animals “more wild,” need clearer reasoning or reliable examples. Develop fewer points in more depth and make your position explicit throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting zoos, a paragraph describing harms, and a concluding statement. Linking phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help signal the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear, and the progression within paragraphs can be difficult to follow. The sentence beginning “So it's important for them to keep in zoos” does not clearly identify who should keep the animals, while the transition from deforestation to elephants’ need for loose sand is abrupt. The conclusion also repeats earlier claims rather than drawing the two sides together. Use clearer references and explain how each example supports the paragraph’s main point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “deforestation,” “artificial breeding,” “population,” and “freedom,” and these choices show some awareness of the subject. However, the range is limited and many spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “distinct” for “extinct,” “stimulator,” “loose sand,” and “strengthening shows.” Repetition of “keep,” “safe,” and “make money” also limits precision. Choose familiar words accurately before attempting less common expressions, and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “endangered species,” “captive breeding,” and “animal welfare” would help you express your ideas clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “Because of deforestation” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and articles sometimes make meaning hard to follow. For example, “there are no need” should be “there is no need,” and “I am agree” should be “I agree.” The sentence “it have negative impacts” also needs subject–verb agreement, while “they shows” should be “they show.” Some sentences run together or lack clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses once the basic structure is secure.
