Student answer (Band 6.0)
Zoos are the places where diffrent kind of plants and animals are kept for many diffrent reasons.I completely disagree with the statement that zoos should be closed as they are no longer needed .The following essay will elaborate the benifits of zoos and why I support these places.
The primary function of zoos is to preserve indangered species and having many diffrent kinds of animals at one place. On the positive side, people can visualy experience various animals and their behaviour in one place rather than exploring them in vast jungles. Additionally , scientists are now preserving indangered species of animals and plants in Zoos by providing them ideal habitate and food.
Moreover, zoos are also good tourist spot. It brings more people around the world to visit, thus it bring more employment and ecomic growth. Many schools plan there trips to zoos so the scloores can watch and learn. Such places are also important to bring individuals attention to save endandered animals and plants. For instance, in my hometown the number of sparrows were decreasing significantly. So the local zoo made a proper shelters for them and aware people of my loccality how to save them by just keeping a bowl of water and few food grains on the rooftop. This helped a lot and number of sparrows started to grown within a year. Zoo keepers and local council was latter appriciated on newspapers.
In conclucion, Zoos are very important place for saving animals and educating people. These places should not be closed insted, it should be funded more to encourage more animal and plant saving programs.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely disagree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion, which directly argues that zoos should be funded rather than closed. You give relevant reasons, including species preservation, public education and employment, and the sparrow example adds specific support to the conservation point. This addresses the task and develops the main ideas sufficiently. To strengthen the response further, explain more precisely how modern zoos protect endangered species, and acknowledge or answer a likely concern about animal welfare in captivity. Some claims, such as zoos bringing “economic growth,” are asserted rather than explained, so a clearer link or example would make the support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs with distinct supporting points, and a conclusion. The progression from conservation and visitor experience to tourism, education and the sparrow example is generally easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Moreover,” and “For instance.” However, some connections feel mechanical, and the second body paragraph combines several ideas without clearly separating them. The sentence beginning “Many schools plan there trips” shifts quickly from tourism to education, while the sparrow example then introduces a local conservation case. Use clearer topic sentences and more precise referencing, and make sure each paragraph develops one main line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “preserve,” “endangered species,” “employment,” and “animal and plant saving programs,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “ideal habitat” and “local council.” However, spelling errors are frequent and noticeable, including “diffrent,” “indangered,” “benifits,” and “appriciated.” Some word choices and collocations are also inaccurate or awkward: “good tourist spot,” “made a proper shelters,” and “started to grown.” These errors reduce precision and can distract the reader. Build a reliable range of topic vocabulary and check spelling, word forms, and natural combinations of words during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause in “as they are no longer needed” and a result structure with “thus.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and often make the writing less controlled. For example, “It brings more people … thus it bring more employment” has inconsistent subject–verb agreement, while “the number of sparrows were decreasing” uses an incorrect verb form with a singular subject. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, as in “a proper shelters” and “plants. For instance.” Practise checking agreement, articles and punctuation, and aim to produce accurate complex sentences rather than adding complexity at the expense of control.
