Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify relevant comparisons, including the peak for people aged 16–20 and the equal figures for males and females aged 26–30. You also note that males are higher in some younger groups and females in some older groups. However, the response only partly summarises the table: it gives no figures, so the scale of the differences is unclear, and the claim that males use the internet more overall is not established by the data. In fact, the table shows females slightly ahead in the 31–50 and 51+ groups. The opening mainly restates the topic, while the overview is vague. Select the main highs, lows and contrasts, and support them with accurate values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, then discusses similarities and age-group comparisons, and ends with a general statement. However, the progression is not consistently clear, partly because several points are repeated, such as the equal figures for ages 26–30. Linking phrases including “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “Furthermore, secondly” are sometimes mechanical or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. The final overview also arrives after a series of loosely connected details. Use a clearer structure—introduction, concise overview, then grouped comparisons—and make each paragraph develop one main point. Avoid stacking connectors when a direct transition would be clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary, such as “age groups,” “categories,” “dominating,” and “comparison,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “the table illustrate the significant information by European people” does not naturally describe what the table presents, and “same average” is imprecise for equal figures. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “catagories,” “similarty,” and “beacuse.” Aim for precise data-reporting language such as “shows,” “records,” “figure,” and “higher than,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons introduced by “while” and “although”-type contrasts, but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and sentence structure occur in examples such as “The table illustrate” and “there is a one similarty,” while “they are use internet more” shows an incorrect verb form. Several sentences are difficult to parse because clauses are joined without clear grammatical structure, as in the sentence beginning “On the other hand, 16 to 20 year old people…” Punctuation is also weak, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Build accurate short sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed clauses and check subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
