Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the low usage among the elderly. However, the presentation of data is somewhat disorganized and lacks precision. For instance, the description of the 11-15 age group is slightly confusing, and the comparison between age groups is not always clearly articulated. While the main trends are identified, the report would benefit from a more structured approach to grouping the data, perhaps by comparing age brackets more systematically rather than listing them in a fragmented way. The overview is present but could be more concise and integrated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'In addition to that', 'Not only that but also'). There are instances where the progression of ideas feels disjointed, particularly in the final paragraphs where data points are presented in isolation rather than as part of a coherent analysis. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'whreas', 'internest', 'grup', 'shignifivant', 'elely', 'relctancy', 'femal', 'oures', 'bith'). These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 report. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'average hours' and 'age groups', the range is limited, and the phrasing is often awkward or non-standard. Improving accuracy in spelling and word choice is essential for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction (e.g., 'teenage boys and girls are the highest number of people who are spending', '11-15 is relatively low'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and incorrect capitalization. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure limits the score. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
