Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided relevant comparisons between age groups and genders. The overview is clear, and the data is accurately reported. To reach a higher band, ensure you avoid minor inaccuracies in data interpretation; for instance, you described the 16-20 age group as spending 'most of their time' on the internet, which is an overstatement of the data provided. Additionally, ensure you consistently use the correct terminology, such as 'hours per week' if implied, rather than just 'hours'. Overall, you have covered all parts of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by age categories. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive, relying heavily on simple transitions like 'firstly' or 'finally' (or implied sequencing). To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and clauses more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed data analysis, which helps the reader navigate the information effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'mean number', 'respectively', and 'ranked'. However, there are some persistent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'use most of their time in the internet' (should be 'on the internet') and 'form male' (should be 'for males'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that prepositions are used correctly with specific nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions ('in the internet' instead of 'on the internet') and pluralization ('both gender' instead of 'both genders'). There are also minor errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for small grammatical slips and refining your use of complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
