Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the data, including the peak usage at 16-20 and the decline in older age groups. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between genders. However, there are some inaccuracies in the data reporting; for instance, you stated that men spent 7 hours in the 21-25 age group, whereas the data shows a different figure. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are transcribed with absolute precision and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant differences rather than just listing details. The summary is generally effective but could benefit from more precise synthesis of the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific age groups. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile' and 'Same as men' to link ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices could be more varied to improve the flow. Additionally, some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'at the last period of the time continuedly decline'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significantly higher', 'gradually decrease', and 'continuedly decline'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'internet used hours' instead of 'hours spent on the internet' and 'at the last period of the time'. The vocabulary is functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and ensuring that your word choices are natural and contextually appropriate for a data description task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'number of men who used internet are') and tense consistency. There are also issues with article usage and prepositions (e.g., 'at the age between 16-20'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining the use of complex structures will help improve your score in this criterion.
