The given table data represents information of the figure of hours consume by internet of European people of various age groups. Overall, the figure is divided in two groups for each year which is Male and Female. The number of individuals from age group 16 to 20 years has spent highest hours on internet.
As it is presented in the table, as we move towards higher age group from 16-20 years, the figure of hours decrease moderately. The hours spent on social media by 11-15 years old, are 8 and 6 for male and female subsequently. After that, figure has jumped dramatically to 19 and 18 hours by 16-20 years age group.
It is clear from the data; the numbers of hours spent on internet by European female are slightly less than male regardless of age group. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the general decline in older groups. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, you mention that hours decrease as we move towards higher age groups, but you do not fully contrast the data points or highlight the most significant trends effectively. The mention of 'social media' is an inaccuracy, as the prompt refers to 'Internet' usage, not social media specifically. To reach a higher band, ensure you accurately interpret the data labels and provide a more comprehensive comparison of the figures across all categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'As it is presented', and 'It is clear from the data'. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'After that, figure has jumped'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them sequentially.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'figure of hours consume by internet' and 'European female are slightly less than male'. The word 'figure' is used repetitively throughout the text. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'average duration', 'consumption', or 'usage patterns', and avoid repeating the same nouns and verbs in every sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the figure of hours', 'the internet') and subject-verb agreement ('Elderly people... has spent'). Additionally, there are issues with word forms, such as 'subsequently' used where 'respectively' was intended. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and article usage would significantly enhance the quality of your writing.
