Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the reporting is fragmented and lacks a clear, comprehensive overview of the data. Several comparisons are unclear or inaccurate, such as the vague reference to 'the age of teenager was amere more than the age group of 21 to 25'. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main features and support your statements with accurate data points from the table. The current response is too brief to fully address all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'To Commence' and 'Futhermore', which do not fit the context of a data report. Referencing is frequently unclear; for example, it is difficult to follow which age groups or genders are being compared in the final paragraph. To improve, focus on using transition signals that logically connect your ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus on a specific trend or comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic phrasing. There are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'spend average time on internet' instead of 'spend an average amount of time on the internet' and 'stay at online'. Spelling errors like 'resprectively' and 'Futhermore' also detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained constant', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The table display'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack necessary prepositions, such as 'spend more time at online'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and the appropriate use of articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
