Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by summarizing the provided data, but the reporting is inconsistent and lacks precision. While you identify some main features, the description of the data is often confusing, such as stating 'the highest proportion of internet used by the second half teenagers' without clear reference to the data. The comparisons are attempted but are frequently inaccurate or difficult to follow, such as the mention of '7 numbers' or 'very small amount of difference'. To improve, ensure you clearly state the specific figures from the table and organize them logically to support your summary rather than listing them in a disjointed manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'firstly', and 'secondly' is mechanical and does not always connect the ideas effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between age groups. The flow between sentences is often interrupted by awkward phrasing, which hinders the overall coherence of the report. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'usage', 'numbers', and 'difference'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'the highest proportion of internet used' (should be 'time spent') and 'males have 7 numbers' (should be '7 hours'). These errors occasionally cause confusion for the reader. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', 'accounted for', or 'a significant disparity'. Focusing on accurate collocations will help you convey your points more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The table illustrate', 'The female are more likely'), incorrect verb forms ('males are used internet'), and sentence structure ('there is only 1 hour of difference are present'). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to awkward phrasing. The majority of your sentences contain errors, which limits the range and accuracy. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tense usage is consistent throughout the report.
