Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified some main features, the reporting is somewhat mechanical and lacks a comprehensive overview. You have selected key data points, such as the 16-20 age group and the 11-15 age group, but the analysis is limited. The comparison between genders is mentioned but lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the requirement for reporting main features and making relevant comparisons. To improve, ensure you provide a more detailed summary that synthesizes the data rather than listing individual figures, and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is a bit repetitive. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking words and phrases to connect the data points more fluidly. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be strengthened to better link the comparisons between age groups and genders.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple descriptors like 'most time', 'lowest average time', and 'dominant figure'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'the highest proportion', 'a significant decline', or 'a marginal difference'. While your word choice does not impede communication, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher band scores. Focus on expanding your range of reporting verbs and descriptive adjectives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'age group between 16 to 20 spend their most time' (should be 'spends its most time' or 'spend the most time') and 'males below age 25 spend more time on internet than female' (should be 'than females'). Additionally, there are missing articles, such as 'on internet' instead of 'on the internet'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the consistent use of articles.
