Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers the main features of the data well. You successfully identified the peak usage age group (16-20) and the lowest usage group (51+) for both genders. You also made relevant comparisons between males and females. However, the report could be improved by including more specific data points for the intermediate age groups (e.g., 21-30 or 31-40) to provide a more comprehensive overview of the trends. While the main features are highlighted, a more detailed breakdown of the data would push this into a higher band. Overall, you have addressed the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific gender-based details. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Similarly' and 'while', which help the flow of information. However, the connection between sentences could be smoother, and some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different aspects of the data. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, such as 'gradual decrease', 'steep increase', and 'respective gender'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as 'internet exploring people' and 'teenage group is having'. These do not impede communication but show a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range to include more precise descriptors for data trends will also be beneficial for your future writing tasks.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Females shows' (subject-verb agreement), 'can be observe' (passive voice error), and 'noticble' (spelling). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the data. You have attempted some complex structures, but they often contain minor slips. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage. Proofreading for small spelling errors and ensuring that passive constructions are formed correctly will help improve your accuracy significantly.
