Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is somewhat fragmented. While you identify the highest and lowest age groups, the comparison between genders is inconsistent. You mention specific figures, but the way they are presented makes it difficult for the reader to follow the trends clearly. For instance, stating 'the difference of 4 hours was noticed' is vague without clarifying which groups are being compared. To improve, ensure you group data logically—perhaps by comparing age trends across both genders simultaneously—and provide a more cohesive overview of the data rather than listing isolated statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression between sentences is often weak. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'overall', but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. For example, the transition between discussing male internet usage and female usage is abrupt. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as when you mention 'the numbers of hours surfed the internet', which lacks a clear subject. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on repetitive phrasing such as 'age groups' and 'numbers of hours'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'numbers of hours surfed the internet', which is not standard English. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuation', or 'a significant disparity'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'compare' will help you express your ideas more naturally and effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'in the age group of children and youngster men spent more time' lacks necessary punctuation and contains a pluralisation error ('youngster' should be 'youngsters'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'females count of hours were high'. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality of the writing. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will be very beneficial.
