Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the high usage among teenagers and low usage among older age groups. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive overview. The attempt to compare genders is present, but the specific data points are sometimes confusingly presented, such as the claim that 'the number of internet users in age 26-30 is the same in all genders' without clear reference to the units or the specific data. The response addresses the task requirements but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band, as it focuses more on listing figures than synthesizing trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and awkward transitions. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However' and 'Furthermore', but they are sometimes applied in a way that does not clearly signal the relationship between ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between age groups and genders. The progression of ideas is present but feels somewhat disjointed, as the transition between the general overview and the specific gender comparisons is abrupt.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'uses internet more' and 'heavy users' are used repeatedly. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or comparative language. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'the least uses are 51 and plus years', which is grammatically awkward and lacks the precision expected in an academic report. To improve, the student should incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'compare', and focus on using more sophisticated collocations related to data analysis.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... uses internet', 'their are more male'), article usage, and pluralization. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent sentence construction is essential.
