Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt but fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the data. The information presented is confusing and contains significant inaccuracies regarding the figures provided in the table. For instance, the mention of 'satisfaction' and 'position ratings' is completely irrelevant as the table only concerns hours spent on the internet. The overview is poorly constructed, and the data selection is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to understand the trends. To improve, focus on identifying the most significant features (e.g., the peak usage in the 16-20 age group) and ensure that all reported figures are directly supported by the provided data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs is chaotic. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the abrupt transition 'In terms of satisfaction,' which does not relate to the data. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to follow which age group or gender is being discussed. The final paragraph is incomplete and fails to provide a coherent conclusion. To improve, use clear linking words to connect ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that contributes to the overall summary.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, often relying on basic structures that do not accurately describe the data. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'height group' instead of 'highest' and 'lass user' instead of 'least'. The phrasing is often unnatural, which hinders the clarity of the report. To reach a higher band, you should learn and apply topic-specific vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'significant,' 'fluctuate,' and 'account for.' Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will also help you convey information more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'male groups as taken over'), sentence fragments, and incorrect word order. The use of articles and prepositions is inconsistent throughout the text. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and the existing simple sentences are often poorly constructed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb. Proofreading for basic punctuation and article usage would also significantly improve the readability of your writing.
