Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the main features are identified, the analysis is underdeveloped. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. The data reporting is somewhat mechanical, and the failure to reach the minimum length prevents a more comprehensive comparison of the age groups. To improve, you must expand on the data points, provide more detailed comparisons between genders and age groups, and ensure the response meets the length requirement to allow for full development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is somewhat disjointed. While some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'Additionally' are used, they are occasionally applied in a way that feels forced or mechanical. The progression of ideas is clear, but the lack of depth in the analysis makes the overall structure feel thin. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the data comparison.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'had least interest' and 'taking second highest place' are functional but basic. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'consume on the internet' instead of 'spend on the internet'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of control. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'accounted for', 'fluctuated', or 'a significant disparity', and avoid repeating the same sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the internet'), subject-verb agreement ('Male used internet'), and awkward phrasing ('Age (16-20) was having highest average time'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex structures.
