Student answer (Band 5.0)
The table provides data on the average time spent on internet by different age classes in Europe. Overall, we can see the decline in the average time spend on the internet as they get older, in which the the highest average number of people spent time on internet are by the age group 16-20, while least time spent was by the age group of 51+.
The starts with group consists of 11-15 years, in which number of both male and female are 8 and 6 which increase by 2.5% for the male and 3% for female in next group 16-20, which is highest numbers in all age group.
In age group 21-25 this numbers fall drastically and reached same as the numbers of age group of 11-15.
The numbers remain same for next two groups before reaching lowest for the 51+ age group people where number of male are 2 and females are 3.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, such as the peak in the 16-20 age group and the decline in the 51+ group. However, the analysis is hampered by inaccurate reporting of the data. For instance, the claim that numbers 'increase by 2.5% for the male and 3% for female' is not supported by the provided figures, and the description of the 21-25 age group as 'reaching same as the numbers of age group of 11-15' is imprecise. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to awkward phrasing. To improve, ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific figures provided in the table.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is disrupted by confusing sentence structures and unclear referencing. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are often used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'The starts with group consists of...' and 'In age group 21-25 this numbers fall...'. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the trends across the age groups. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence clearly connects to the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'numbers', 'group', and 'time'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'different age classes' instead of 'age groups' and 'the highest average number of people spent time on internet are by the age group'. The lack of precision in describing trends (e.g., 'this numbers fall drastically') limits the ability to convey information effectively. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuate', 'decline', 'peak', and 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the highest average number... are by the age group') and article usage (e.g., 'on internet' instead of 'on the internet'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the run-on structure in the first paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that articles are used correctly before nouns.
