Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the contrast with the oldest age group. However, the report lacks precision in data presentation. For instance, you mention 'average 19 hours' for men and '18 hours' for women without specifying if these are daily or weekly figures, which is crucial for clarity. Additionally, some data points are slightly inaccurate or confusingly phrased, such as the description of the 21-25 age group. To improve, ensure you explicitly state the units of measurement and double-check the accuracy of the figures against the source data to ensure a fully accurate summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. There is a clear progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover' are used correctly, but the transitions between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For example, the shift between the 11-15 and 16-20 age groups feels abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'this group') is used more effectively would enhance the flow and coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'depicts', 'noticeable', and 'opposite trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'both gender' (should be 'both genders') and 'on network' (should be 'on the network'). The phrasing 'the most time is spent on the internet is by' is also grammatically awkward. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more varied ways of describing trends and comparisons would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the internet'), pluralization ('both gender'), and verb tense consistency ('females spent' instead of 'spend'). Some sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'An opposite trend is noticed is older age people'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to incorporate more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
