Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to adequately report the data provided in the table. While it mentions some figures, it lacks a comprehensive overview of the trends across all age groups. The description is fragmented and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the categories. For instance, the mention of 'downward trend' is inaccurate based on typical data patterns for internet usage, and the analysis is too vague, failing to identify key features or specific data points for most age groups. To improve, you must systematically present the data for all groups and highlight the most significant differences and similarities rather than providing a superficial summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is somewhat repetitive, and the body paragraphs lack clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore' and 'To sum up', but they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately, such as using 'To sum up' in the middle of a paragraph. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring to 'the category' or 'the groups' without specifying which ones. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'different kind of categories' and 'the figure stood at' are used, but there is a lack of precision in describing statistical trends. Some word choices are awkward, such as 'female ones' and 'least significant category'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a marginal increase'. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on accurate collocations will help you convey information more effectively and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles (e.g., 'For male'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing ('as same as compared to'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the general intent, they occur frequently enough to distract from the content. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would lead to more accurate and polished writing.
