Student answer (Band 6.5)
The table illustrates the average hours spent on internet by both male and female from six categories of age group in Europe.
Overall, it is evident that the amount of time spent on internet by each categories of age groups significantly varies. While people between age 16-20 recorded the largest amount of time in both genders, adult above 51 had the least hours spent on internet.
Regarding males across all age groups, male within age 16-20 spent largest hours on internet at 19 hours followed by demographic between 11-15 at 8 hours and 21-25 group at 7 hours. However, the hours used in browsing significantly reduce to 4 hours among age 26-30 and 3 hours in age class 31-50 whereas 51 + recorded the least amount of hours across all male age class reporting 2 hours.
Turning to females, female within age 16-20 reported 18 hours which is the highest hours among female, followed by age 11-15 at 6 hours and 21-25 group at 5 hours. Meanwhile, the hours spent among demographic 26-30 is similar to that of male at 4 hours. Conversely, the hours spent by 31-50 age class slightly increase to 4 hours compared to male and 51+ still maintain the lowest hours at 3 hours.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main trends, such as the peak usage in the 16-20 age group and the decline in older demographics. Comparisons are made between genders, which is a key requirement. However, the report could be improved by including a more comprehensive overview that synthesizes the data rather than just listing figures. While you have selected the main features, some of the data points are presented in a list-like fashion, which slightly limits the analytical depth. Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on males and females respectively. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Regarding', 'Turning to', and 'Meanwhile' to transition between sections. However, some of the linking is a bit mechanical, and there is occasional repetition of phrasing (e.g., 'the hours spent among'). To reach a higher band, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and less dependent on simple transition words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demographic', 'recorded', and 'illustrates'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'male within age 16-20' (should be 'males in the 16-20 age group') and 'largest hours' (should be 'the highest number of hours'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring that nouns and adjectives are used in their correct plural or singular forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and pluralization, such as 'each categories of age groups' (should be 'each age group') and 'adult above 51' (should be 'adults over 51'). Additionally, there are missing articles throughout the text (e.g., 'spent on internet' should be 'spent on the internet'). These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammatical structures will significantly improve your score.
