Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the highest and lowest values across age groups. However, the reporting is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you identify the teenagers as the highest users, the description of the data is occasionally confusing, such as the phrase '1 hour lees then men who aged between 16 to 20'. The comparison between age groups is present, but the lack of precise grouping and the inclusion of speculative reasons (e.g., 'due to busy days') is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report, which should remain objective and focused solely on the data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes awkward, such as 'Fleeting a glance it is noticeable that'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between genders and age brackets. The paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical progression, often jumping between data points without a clear thematic link. Improving the use of linking words like 'conversely', 'in contrast', or 'similarly' would help the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'calibrated into hours', 'aged between 16 to 20 shows largest value sent on usage', and 'older aged group'. Spelling errors like 'lees' (less) and 'das' (as) also occur. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more precise terminology to describe trends and data points, such as 'the highest figure was recorded by...' or 'the data shows a downward trend'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect preposition usage ('in usage of internet'), subject-verb agreement errors ('whose aged between 16 to 20 shows'), and awkward sentence construction ('Which followed by the as 8 hours'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors and the lack of complex sentence structures limit the score. Focusing on basic sentence accuracy and avoiding run-on or fragmented sentences will improve your score.
